Kris Letang for a Top Line Winger

The Penguins, just like every year, need a top line winger. Pascal Dupuis has two points in his last ten games, and has shown that he has no place being on the first line.

Kris Letang struggled heavily at the start of the season, but as he's recovering from his injury, he's looking more and more in form. The only problem is, having a phenomenal offensive defenseman that is sometimes good, sometimes horrendous in his zone is a luxury that the Pens don't need, especially when they have a plethora of you defensemen that are not getting the playing time that they deserve.

A lot of Pens fans want to acquire a first line winger with our numerous defensive prospects - but if they're playing as well as Letang, then why trade them now?

I'd like to get a skilled, tough winger for Letang: a guy like Evander Kane, Jordan Eberle or Brent Burns. Would any team be interested in trading Letang on a 1 for 1 deal, with a possible draft pick thrown in?

I always thought something around ROR+ for Letang could work, though ROR can't be traded until late Feb. This obviously would mean ROR would be converted to a full time winger in Pittsburgh.

ROR for Letang

Kunitz - Crosby - ROR
Jokinen - Malkin - Neal

Only problem is Letang is turbo expensive for the next forever. Yes he's a top level player but that's a heavy price tag.

Were it not for that, Jets would probably try to offer Wheeler, but even the Jets know that isn't enough value to get you talking. As for Evander Kane, he's on a reasonable long term contract, and he has nowhere to go but up. Plus Winnipeg is shallow on skill up front and heavy with RHD talent (Buff, Trouba, Bogo, Postma, Redmond). I don't see a fit there.

Just pick up an underacheiver and have him bounce-back with Sid.

Martin Erat? Nail Yakupov? Chris Stewart?

Watch Yakupov play more, he has phenomenal sniping ability, great puck skills and gamebreaking speed to be a constant scoring threat from the wing position. Play him with Sid, and the dude is a guaranteed 30+ goal scorer.

Also Stewart is struggling alot with the Blues, you can get him relatively cheap.

Depends on who you ask... I'd do Letang for Stewart straight up.

There is no way that I'd do that, and I doubt you'll find a Pens fan that disagrees with me.

I think the winger needs to be an established top line guy like Eberle. Yak has all the skills but he's young and my fear is Bylsma will hate his guts. He just isn't the most patient coach with a developing young player.

Eberle for Letang doesn't help the Oilers. They need a defensive guy to play with J. Schultz.

Blues don't really need Letang and don't have cap space for 1:1 anyway, that's the main issue with this. 3 way deal could potentially happen since Stewart can definitely be moved.

There's cap issues with Eberle.

There would have to be a substantial +. Couturier is way more valuable than J. Schultz imo.

Never got all the hype around Stewart. Didn't know he was THAT good if you guys are willing to trade Letang for him.

He's not and their not. At least not 1 for one as some have suggested.
It would have to be ROR and a big + for Letang.
Yak and a Bigger + + for Letang
Eberle and a smaller + for Letang.
Wheeler or Kane both would need a + added to get Letang.
I think the Pens should go out and get a filler to go on Sids wing.
Doesn't need to be a top line sniper with the talant that Sid has to do the job.

Seriously? There has to be at least one of your core young forwards coming back for a D of Letang's caliber. Not to mention we have zero use for anymore D-Men. I can understand not wanting to part with the likes of ROR but the above offer is almost insulting.

I'd consider JVR for Letang. The leafs would then no doubt move Gardiner for help up front.
