The Predators defenseman the Flyers should trade for

Hint: It's not Shea Weber.

Vinny + L. Schenn + 2nd/3rd?

Seriously? That's what you think it might cost?

Voracek or Couturier and they might bite.

He has concussion problems which scare the crap out of me. Is a dynamic and great talent but not a #1 yet.

Also, Vinny+Luke Schenn+2/3r rounder doesn't get you Yoshi.

Joe Toronto would be proud of that proposal.

As I mentioned, I don't know what the asking price would be. If it's more, then it's more, but I don't think they'd ask for Voracek or Couturier. Maybe Brayden Schenn...

Would a 1st instead of a 2nd/3rd be enough?

Please, take him. I'll take a dozen donuts in exchange.

There's absolutely zero incentinve for the Preds to move Josi for the Flyers' garbage.

He's on a cap friendly contract for 6 more years on a team that doesn't like to spend money. Unless they're getting a gifted forward who is already established (unlike, say, B. Schenn), Josi is staying in Nashville.

This article is akin to another team's fanbase advocating the acquisition of Couturier with a title: The Flyers centre Team X should trade for (hint: it's not Giroux)

Why wouldn't they? Josi averaged over 26 minutes of ice time playing all situations & put up 40 points at 23 years old this year.

I'm not even sure if they would trade him for Couturier let alone Schenn who has lesser value of the two. I would imagine it starts & ends with Voracek.

...And offering a 34-year old 2nd pairing D, a youngish third line winger with limited upside, and a 2nd/3rd in return.

Yeah, please don't let this get near the trade boards.

You might find it easier to pry Seth Jones out of Nashville than Josi, honestly. As noted above, he's on one of the better contracts in the league for the next six years, and compliments Weber perfectly on the top pairing.

EDIT: Quick glance at their boards seems to confirm that--the only reason some are willing to move Josi before Jones is his concussion history.

I don't think it would make sense for the Flyers to give up what it would take to get Josi, all things considered. There's a legitimate concern about his health, he probably projects more as an elite #2 than a true #1, and he's LH, which, while not disqualifying, isn't ideal.

Now, if Jones is on the table, then it becomes a very different conversation.

All Preds D-men are belong to us.

Seriously though, Josi is probably not going anywhere - especially not for Vinny+LSchenn+2nd.

Josi is a good player, but I'm not so sure he's what we need here for the future. We have a couple middle pairing guys already, including Streit who I'm hoping is on the first PP next year. Add in the fact that Morin, Hagg, and Gostisbehere are in the pipeline, and that more than likely, not all of them are going to become top pairing franchise d-men; we're going to have a lot of middle pairing guys.

And say they do want B. Schenn in return. That leaves Couts, and Laughton down the middle after G. One of which is a complete unknown having only played 9 games in the NHL, and the other hasn't been able to bring offense on a consistent basis yet in his career.

The trade could leave us with no scoring depth, and something like, 4 or 5 middle pairing defensemen over the next few years. Not exactly the roster you envision competing for the cup.

Edit: I'd sure as hell unload Vinny for Josi, but as stated before - no way Nashville goes for that.

He wouldn't be worth what we'd have to give up. We'd have to give up other young players and/or future draft picks, which is what the Flyers have always done and it always comes back to bite us. This is why Hextall wants to put an emphasis on draft and development.

I certainly wouldn’t be opposed to the idea of packaging Lecavalier and Luke Schenn along with a 2nd/3rd
You'd have to kidnap some of Poile's family members to get him to agree to that offer.

No but in all seriousness, that trade proposal is awful. I'm surprised it didn't come from Timmy P.

If you dont know what the asking price would be, why make a such a crappy proposal?

Think if we tossed Grossman in the trade they would give us Jones?

Better chance of acquiring Ryan Ellis. Could be that elusive offensive defenseman that everyone says Coburn needs to play with to bring the best out in him.......

Rather give Ghost that opportunity. Ellis is undersized and questionable defensively. We have exactly that with Ghost, but he has made great strides defensively. Why acquire a similar player to what we have already that is quite possibly ready to make the jump. We will all see how free agency and trades work out but I have a feeling that 6th spot is Ghost's to lose.

*insert Darth Vader NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO picture*

Ryan Ellis is the homeless man's version of Erik Karlsson. Worse offensively and shockingly worse defensively.

There is a lot of overrating here. Jake or couts!?! They would ask schenn and schenn for Josi and 4th liner maybe.

yeah cant see the Preds moving Josi. Like Simmonds he is locked up on a great contract for awhile. Would require an overpayment to land Josi.

Not really he just finished in the top 25 in scoring for defensemen with 40 points (13G & 27A) at age 23 on a pretty poor team. He averaged 26:25 minutes per game (20:45ES, 2:33SH, & 3:05PP). He's also signed to a great deal ($4M caphit next 6 years) as well.

He's already a bonafide top 4 defender (which are at a premium in this league) with room to still grow. He has injury concerns but I doubt it gets in the way of Nashville's thought process on whether to trade him or not so yeah he's pretty valuable.
