Cgy & Phi

With Burke holding the reigns in Calgary now I've just got a feeling he wants to put his stamp on things before hiring someone else. It's very clear that Baertschi is on thin ice with both Hartley and Burke and I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to move him fairly soon. Backlund is also not a coach favorite. I've always thought this would be a good trade for both teams.

To Phi:
Backlund
Baertcshi

To Cgy:
B. Schenn
L. Schenn

Not sure if this meets both teams needs or the value is fair but I think it works. I'm just trying to gage if this is fair value or what needs to change. I know its kind of a proposal.

Value seems fine but I would prefer to stick with what we got.

A little too much on the Flyers end, maybe if you added J.Gaudreau

nope.

If were giving up Baertschi and Gaudreau i am expecting someone a lot better than B Schenn in return.

This doesn't do a great job of filling the Flyers' needs.

We have a logjam at center. Brayden was moved to left wing initially this season, and is back at center because Lecavalier is out. Laughton's coming up to the big club next season, and will either be the 3 or 4C, (personally I'd like to see us running Giroux/Couturier/Laughton/Hall down the middle, and we'll always have Lecavalier to fill in at 2C as needed.)

So, Backlund isn't a good fit. I admittedly don't think the value is horrible, but I'm honestly not as well versed in the Flames players, so I'm not a great judge.

What the Flyers need is a first line winger for Giroux (preferably LW so Baertschi could be useful if he hits his ceiling) and an upgrade on defense. But we currently have too many 3-4D, so an upgrade would have to include shipping one or two out.

Not opposed to moving Team Schenn, but it has to be for the right fit.

Don't the Flyers need dmen? Unless Wotherspoon or Sieloff take a big step forward, I don't see us as good trading partners. The Flyers are probably more interested in Brodie, who we cannot afford to give up.

Flyers need a legit #1 defenseman. They have plenty of defensemen.

I dont think the flames do this
luke pretty much has zero value in my eyes
backlund looks as good as brayden schenn
and baertschi has the potential to become the best of the group.
cant see why the flames do this.

Backlund is more comfortable on the wing. He played LW with Berglund at center during the lockout, and he performed very well. I think Backlund is more of a versatile forward than most people think.

One trade doesn't have to fill ALL of your needs. People come on here and say no we wouldn't do that because we need this and that. Well in the real life that doesn't happen where you get everything you need all at once. Basically I'm looking for is the value fair for this deal.

Oh shocker...someone from Toronto saying L.Schenn has no value!

As for B.Schenn, he has out produced Backlund in each of the last 3 years, is 2 years younger, and has a higher draft pedigree. Backlund is a 3rd line C. Schenn is a 2nd line C/LW.

As for this trade, as others have said, it helps Philly in no way. Sven has been between the AHL/NHL for 2 years, and Philly already has a great 3rd line C in Couts.

The OP is not enough value.

B. Schenn holds more value than Baertschi. I think the value between L. Schenn and Backlund could actually be fairly close at this point in time, with it being slightly in favour of Schenn.

No thanks, it'd be a big mistake for this organization to move the Schenns. They've been decent this year, still terribly young and inconsistant but really, I see no reason to move either of them unless it's a package for an upgrade for the first line or a defenseman.

I would agree that Calgary would probably have to add something that they wouldn't want to add.

Backlund has looked good for a while now in terms of his all around game and its too soon to give up on Bart.

Defense, specifically. Holmgren would be an idiot to move them in a package for anyone other than a Weber-type defenseman.

Wouldn't do this from the Flames side. Sven is not out of favor, Burke is just handling him the same way as Kadri.

Don't need backlund, but bart would be nice to have. Really the only pieces that the flyers would be interested from the Flames are Baertschi and their 1st, but I can't realistically see the flames wanting to trade either of those pieces.

I think in terms of value this is one of the better trade proposals on HF.

If Flyer fans wanted I would substitute Baertschi with Gaudreau + 2nd. Gaudreau looks amazing and grew up a Flyers fan. Our 2nd should be pretty low, too.

As for the proposal

B. Schenn > Backlund
Baertschi > L. Schenn

While I'd like Brayden, I'd have no interest in Luke at all, especially at the cost of Baertschi/Gaudreau.

People need to understand that this is Burke vs Holmgren, so I'm sure PHI has to add

B.Schenn is now in his 3rd year...each of those years, he has beaten Backlund in points.

18-11 Schenn's rookie season, Backlunds 3rd season
26-16 shortened season, Backlunds 4th season
18-13 currently, Backlund's 5 season

Schenn is currently pacing his second 45 point season in 3 years.
Backlund has 1 season of pacing 41 points...in 5 years.

Schenn is much better.

Good point. However this would be a trade 3-4 years down the road both teams could be benefitting from it. I do appreciate the feedback from everyone. It seems like the value not there at this time.
