Blackhawks/Islanders

-Frans Nielsen

-2014 1st
-Adam Clendening

* Chicago gets an underrated #2 center on a very cheap contract (2.75M)
* Islanders make room for Ryan Strome, who in my opinion is NHL ready.

No, cant do that... No reason to do that.

The Hawks are too deep already, If the Hawks need a C they already have (NHL ready) Brandon Pirri.....

Easy no from Chicago, I think they have something special in Clendening.

I would love to have Nielsen on the Hawks, but the Hawks don't have the cap space.

Today's Space $3,822,489

Nielsen's cap hit is only $2,750,000

According to capgeek this trade is cap compliant.

This - no cap space.

I'd love to have Nielsen and I think he's much better all-around payer than Pirri - which means Q would actually play him and keep him in the lineup - unlike Pirri ... but simply can't afford him.

For that to work from a salary cap perspective, the Islanders would have take on Sheldon Brookbank's contract and Nikolai Khabibulin's contract, both will be unrestricted free agents at the end of the 2013-14 NHL Season.

Counter offer:

Brandon Pirri and Adam Clendening for Frans Nielsen.

The isles don't need defense prospects, with Reinhart, Pulock, de Haan, etc.

If the trade Nielsen they need a vet on the blue line or a goaltender.

So, none of these deals work, IMO

So would you rather have Brookbank or Rozsival coming back instead of Clendening?

Ryan Strome still has not played a game for us amd frans is our best defensive forward...It would hurt us too much...This is a draft/summer type deal

Bickell and Khabibulin are currently on LTIR so when both return to the active list, the Chicago Blackhawks salary cap reduces to essentially zero.

The trade maybe favors the Isles a little more than the Hawks.

But yes, the "we're too deep!" crap, oh how the NHL loser points make people feel they are more elite than they really are.

Chicago leads the NHL in wins, points, winning % and goal differential, all while playing in the exceptionally tough West. They have not lost vs. the East in regulation in over 10 games.

But yes, they are just a creation of the system and the loser point.

If there is even one elite NHL franchise, Chicago is it.

If the Islanders move Nielsen, which I doubt they will even consider, it will be in a trade for a top 4 defenseman. Absolutely no incentive to move backwards and deal him for picks/prospects. We don't need to trade him to make room for Strome - they will both be playing tonight. Nielsen is ideally a 3C anyway.

Don't put words in his mouth. For Nielsen, I would add to get Hjalmarsson or Leddy. Obviously Nielsen for Brookbank/Rozsival wouldn't be fair.

With the 2014 1st. I thought that goes without saying.

Hjalmarsson is worth Nielsen ++ on his own. Leddy not far behind.

Pirri isn't a prospect to me, he is bona fide and the Pirri Clendening deal seams pretty fair.

No offense, but that is beyond horrible.

Oduya, I would not even want as a throw in for a deal for Frans. I don't even see him as an upgrade beyond Hickey and Strait.

I just don't see a deal between the teams that makes sense. And, if the isles do move Nielsen (which I see as moderately unlikely) they need to fix goaltending before defense, IMO. Chi hawks don't have that to offer.

Fair to Chicago. Meets zero needs for the isles.

Honestly, if Hjalmarsson is not on the table (Leddy too small for our midget blue line), there isn't a deal.

Still doesn't work with the salary cap. Pirri and Clendening are not on the Hawks active roster so trading their salaries does not open space for Nielsen's salary.
