My opinion, Filppula is more talented skillwise but Koivu is more aware in the game. Filppula still has situations that he gets tackled because he focuses to hard towards the puck and not what happens around him but I think that is shortly improved when he gets few hard hits.
According to Jokerit boss Virmanen, he contacted all Filppula's agents (Bill Zito, Markus Lehto and Simo Niiranen) and says his agents told him that no negotiations have been made and so no contract has been signed. Virmanen continued that as of now Valtteri Filppula stays with Jokerit.
Filppula and Franzen have not signed with Detroit. The Red Wings are working on Franzen, as he is expected to make the big team next year. Filppula is possible, but unlikely, for a number of reasons. The other signing to watch for is Jimmy Howard.
