Actually, do any of you guys think trading down to the 20s would be a good move? If someone wanted #13 enough, maybe we could pick up a late 1st, and an early 2nd, if we packaged our 1st with a 4th or something?

I'm thinking Andrew Cogliano would fit our offensive need, and we could still grab one of the better D-men in the draft with the 2nd?

What is everbody's feelings on Jakub Vojta?

13 may be a little high but Regier/Luce have a way of surprising us. This is a deep draft and I would love to see Buffalo move down and grab a bunch of players to really solidify our farm system. Unless somebody really drops I think it would make sense to add picks rather than reach for a Dman or another player at 13. I truly feel that 13 will treat us about as poorly as it did last year when all of the guys we wanted were selected just before us. No offense to Drew.

I'd love to make a move, in either direction. It seems we are on the wrong side of the talent drop-off.

i actually think if price is on the board, jump on him
by the time price is ready in two or three years there will probably only be one left of the current trio
and with very little else in the pipeline, if price is around at 13 and the best player on the board, take him and run

Apparantly the Sabres have been awarded a compensation pick:

Pick 227 - assigned to Buffalo for the loss of a draft pick (acquired via trade) as a result of the shortening of the Entry Draft from nine to seven rounds.

I agree with 'billsandsabres' that if Price is available, then we should grab him. It wouldn't hurt to have another quality goaltender in our system, especially when one or two of our 3 goalies leaves. I expect Crosby, Pouliot, Brule, Kopitar, Johnson, Ryan, Staal, Bourdon, O'Marra, and Skille to be gone by the time we draft. With those players gone, the players I desire the most go as follows:

1. Alex Bourret
2. Luc Bourdon
3. Martin Hanzal
4. Brian Lee
5. Marek Zagrapan

I'm guessing the comp pick is due for the Delmore trade where we got a 9th round pick?(When there are only 7 rounds)

Here's a few later picks I want on the Sabres:

2nd/3rd round - Paul Stastny, C, 6' 200lbs, UoDenver
3rd/4th round - Joe Finley, D, 6'7" 229lbs, Sioux Falls
5th/6th round - Nicholas Kemp, C, 6'1" 202lbs, Sioux City
7th round - Jeff Caron, D, 6'1 180lbs, Merrimack

I like those picks, but I expect both Stastny and Finley to be off the board when the Sabres pick in the 2nd round.

Maybe they take a local route again this year, with Tim Kennedy of Sioux City in the late-middle rounds? A Michigan state recruit, I think he played at Timon....

Benoit Pouliot to the Wild at #4

Carey Price to the Habs at #5.... already getting grilled on TSN for this one. Who knows, maybe the kid gives them championship calibre 'tending down the road?

The best thing, it puts him in the top 12.

The Jackets gets a gift with Brule falling to them at 6.

Brule with Nash and Zherdev will be fun to watch.
