The Flyers played an almost perfect 60 minutes of hockey against one of the most dominant sports teams in history.
Wait what? Playing dirty game with biased officiating is now called a perfect game ?

One of the most wildest games I saw.It was on CBC and during game Red Army leaves ice into dressing room complaining of violence.Alan Eagleson goes into room and threatens boss of Red Army that they will not get any money if they dont return. It was a very intersesting game to watch. The highsticks and cross checks to face were plentiful.

I can still remember watching that game live. LOVED it. Bob Clarke was one helluva hockey player. Never seen another just like him.

And he didn't even break anyone's ankle.....

Would have fun to see a second game played in Moscow with Russian refs.

My guess is 4 Flyers end up in Siberia.

Brutal clips. Shanahan would have banned each member of the Flyers twice from the game.

A really disappointing display of barbarism. What can you expect, though? Bobby Clarke showed in '72 that he was a barbarian.

Barbaric? Yes.

Should anyone apologize for it? No.

You had to live in that time, folks. Be happy you don't.

one of bob cole's most underrated calls

and how dirty was that moose dupont high stick? one interesting thing in comparison to today's game is that all of the body checks were perfectly legal (as opposed to the headshots of today) while the amount of stickwork was shocking

True, but punk was just starting in the UK and CBGB's to give us those of who wanted an 'alternative' something to listen for.

I borrow this thread to show a goal by Pelle Eklund on a slapshot in jan 1990 against CSKA Moscow. I watched it on a Soviet channel back then. The way he scores it was so rare that I still remember it. 31 mins into the video. Philly obvious plays a cleaner game than in the 70s.

In Moscow team you find Kamensky, Fedorov, Gusarov and Bykov for instance.
