Cam Ward and Danny Richmond both released to juniors

The Canes returned goalie Cam Ward to Red Deer this afternoon, and also announced that they have decided to let defenseman Danny Richmond play in London of the OHL this season ... opting not to sign him and assign him to Lowell.

Good ... and good.

Of all the guys you could take a chance on rushing a bit, defensemena nd goalies are NOT the ones to risk. Especially offensive d-men with very little experience ... Richmond played a single season at the University of Michigan.

Good luck to both CHL teams ... we'll be watching.

Fantastic. I'm glad we're not trying to pull a Tanabe with Richmond. Maybe this organization has learned not to rush offensive defensemen.

I didn't feel Richmond was ready either after seeing him last week. He was kind of shaky.

I think management is so desperate for an "offensive" defensemen that they lose their minds when one is in the organization. I read a quote last week from JR that said he was planning on Richmond being in the opening night lineup. I am glad they made the decision to let him play in Juniors.
