It struck me today that despite all the good draft classes lately and young stars that we have, the 2010 draft is yet to yield a single legit NHL player. I say yet because some of them are still as young as 21, but it's been 3½ years since that draft which is a significant amount of time.
In order of the draft:
2/35: Rensfeldt - Not signed.
2/41: Nemeth - AHL.
2/44: Wännström - AHL/ECHL.
2/51: Järnkrok - AHL.
2/56: Larsson - NHL games, not a regular.
2/57: Lindberg - AHL.
3/90: Nordström - NHL games, not a regular.
4/106: Sörensen - Not signed.
4/116: Granberg - AHL.
5/126: Cehlin - AHL.
5/128: Pettersson Wentzel - Not signed.
5/131: Klingberg - Yet to go overseas.
5/132: Heed - Yet to go overseas.
5/146: Brodin - Not signed.
6/157: Fast - NHL games, not a regular.
6/159: Gustafsson - AHL.
6/161: Dahlström - Not signed.
6/169: Owuya - Not signed.
7/206: Blidstrand - Not signed.
7/207: Westin - Not signed.
While this isn't looking like a strong one, should also be considered that prospects we are excited about now from 2011, 2012 and 2013 will soon start to fall off and not many will be NHL regulars 5 or 6 years into their careers.
This draft lacked top-quality for sure, don't think many Swedes pushed for anyone but Järnkrok in the top round.
In a couple of years I'd say there are something like 4 NHLers from this group, and about the same from another non-elite draft like 2012.
