I don't think he was referring to this year, hopefully, but riding a hot keeper is one of the easiest ways to compete for the cup come playoff time.

More good news:

Pekka Rinne headed to the Milwaukee Admirals for conditioning assignment.

Well the 8 seed part led me to believe it was referring to this year.

Actually, I am. It would not shock me at all if the Preds rally to the 8th seed.

Weber believes they will be a tough team if they make it this year.

Why does Weber care since he is an Edmonton Oiler now right?

And this is the type of quote that leaders make to rally the troops. How often does he speak like this? Good for him and he may be right. Then again we could come back from the break and play completely flat. Lol.

I'm not being a pessimist, or not trying to be, but all this hope is predicated on Pekka being a beast upon his return. That's a pretty big assumption IMO. He may very well be an improvement over what we have now but it's far from certain that he'll be world class enough to carry us into the playoffs.

I said on the Preds forums at the start of the season that I thought they could be a tough team to play in the playoffs, the hard part was going to be getting there.

If Rinne comes out on fire you have no worries of him being worn out from the season, which is a big plus as long as he is playing well.

You have really solid defensive group, who stat wise hasn't been great but once again if they lined everything up is pretty dang scary.

The biggest question is as it has always been, can we take advantage of the chances we get, or create enough chances when it comes to the playoffs. Oddly enough I don't think this season we've struggled creating chances, its finishing the dang thing that has killed us.

Do I think this team wins the cup? Nah I don't think we get close, frankly at best I think we make it, scare the crap out of someone in the first round and go to the house. However, as LA showed all you need to do is make it to have a chance.

If we make it with Rinne playing well, and the rest of the team playing solid do I think we scare the crap out of some teams? You damn right, no one wants to face Rinne standing on his head period.

Like the start of the season though, there are still a ton of ifs, and while my optimism may be growing, I think the last thing I want Poile to do is make some crazy trade that hurts us in the future.

This team without Pekka = Draft Lottery.

This team WITH Pekka = Dangerous.

Possibly lol.

Could just be trying to convince some buddies that we are worth a try. Lets face it, if you are him, have no real plans on leaving and you would to try and win it here, best thing you can do is try and convince people to come play with you.

Looks like all the bloggers have gone to Milwaukee to see Rinne so we'll be getting a lot of reports on how he plays tonight.

Yay Pekka! Love him; just seems like such a nice guy on top of being a great tender. Good luck friend.

Who has more interest currently in Milwaukee: Pekka Rinne or the Milwaukee Bucks?

Looks like Korn has headed up to Milwaukee. I saw him at the game last night, so he must have gone up this morning or last night.

I expect some rust obviously but just hope he doesn't get hurt is the main thing.

Milwaukee obviously plays tonight and Sunday, but not again until next Friday. If he plays well and looks/feels healthy, I can't help but wonder if he'll get called up on Monday and practice here for a few days and play Thursday.

Yeah, this seems like a logical guess for the return of Rinne. Hoping all goes well.
