With last year being a shortened season it gave many teams a false sense of accomplishment making the playoffs. I think the Habs thought they were better than they were. The Sens were fading going into the playoffs but had the perfect match up. The Leafs i think were playing at there peak for most of the season and Boston just barely got out of that series. This season is a little more reflective of how things should be (although I still think the Habs are playing over their heads and will do nothing in the playoffs).

The Leafs are built to be a good playoff team but after 82 games I don't think they will make it.

Love how a flukey blowout victory over Chicago changes a lot of minds about where this team stands... Leafs are in shambles, and when they miss the playoffs this year (I predict a bottom 10 finish), I hope they fire Carlyle and Nonis, and get rid of everyone except Kadri, JvR, Rielly, Lupul, Bolland, Holland, and one of Bernier or Reimer.

Yes, I didn't mention Kessel because he'd be a great trade piece to get a proper rebuild going. Also think it will be a huge mistake to sign Phaneuf for anything over $6m, he's just a glorified stay-at-home d-man at this point.

P.S.

Even if by some miracle that they do make it, this team is incapable of beating anyone in the current top 8, including Montreal.

Wildcard Standings

Its too early to be worrying about playoff position but this illustrates just how bad the Leafs have been since Nov 2nd.

Philly is now 3 points behind Toronto for the final playoff spot and Philly has 2 games in hand. NYR are 4 points back with 2 in hand.

7 Detroit GP35 P39
8 Toronto GP 36 P37
9 Philadelphia GP34 P34
10 Ottawa GP35 P34
11 NY Rangers GP34 P33

Not with Carlyle as coach.

This is like when we refused to fire Wilson. By the time anything is done , it will be too late. Our record of late is beyond bad. How does this years draft look? It is time to get excited about it again.

TSN confirmed that today... Nonis is happy with Carlyle and not moving him out.

Ah well, Let Nonis Answer to Tim Leiweke when the Leafs finish in the basement. Remember King Burke was fired, so Nonis can go just as easy.

Exactly. Tim just finished making the leafs parade route last year, if we miss the playoffs this year he will be pissed forsure, BUT if we end up like top 10 worst then, well, someone's gotta go. Its embarrasing, one year we take the Eastern Conference Champs Bruins to game 7 Overtime, Next year were drafting top 10 with the likes of Buffalo, Florida and Edmonton.

Who would Leafs fans thinks is the most responsible for the Leafs today?

Burke, Nonis, Carlyle?

Burke drafted and traded for most of the line up.

Nonis did some tinkering and brought in Bernier and signed Clarkson.

Carlyle got them to the playoffs but at this point can't seem to make it work with the line up he has.

Despite being in a slump, we are still 3 points clear in the playoffs, it's not nearly as bad as some make it out to be at the moment. Philly, Ottawa, NJ, NY. As long as we stay ahead of these teams we should be okay.

This team has been playing at the point pace of an expansion team since the beginning of November. That's.. not good.

Voted yes but only because the Eastern Conference is horrible. They wont go far however..bounced in round one..because the Leafs will get the 7th or 8th seed and will get demolished in the first round by one of the only decent Eastern contenders.
