What will tomorrow be like?

What do you think tomorrow will be like? a firestorm? or a whisper?

And who do you think makes the first move on both the owners and players side?

I would say about 5-10 signings, but most will be minor.

There are going to be some people dissapointed I think (Eklund). Teams aren't going to rush to sign players because they have to fit them in a cap. No team is going to rush out to sign players just so they can have the big prize. The big prize is going to be the quality of players and not the quantity of talent.

I predict '0' signings. Tomorrow is the beginning of "negotiations". If someone is signed tomorrow ther would have had been prior contact, a violation of the rules set up for this offseason. That, and the fact the owners aren't going to be throwing their signature around like hot cakes because they are afraid of looking like jack ***** after winning the CBA war but killing an entire season because of previous problems with their own greed.

Yet, that would have also been a violation of the rules in past offseason, but it never stopped anything.

There will be some signings.

Wait for the first team to sign someone and the rest will follow.

Expect to see some signings to minimum contracts for the lower end players who just take the QO's. It looks like defensemen have had their bars set so expect to see higher end defensemen signed earlier than premium and mid-level forwards forwards.

Same here. Maybe one or two decent names but not all that much. I expect the first week to be pretty lax before things start to pick up.

I expect someone like Kovalev to be the first to be signed, only question is if it will be to resign in Montreal, or a quick deal with Pittsburgh based on the deal they were talking about before the lockout started... other than that I dont really expect any other big names to be signed until at least Wednesday

Tomorrow won't be major. No one wants to be the precedent for giving out ludicrous contracts (in terms of the new CBA) that will come back to haunt them in later years.

I'm not so sure.

GM Patrick of the Pens clearly stated he will be very aggressive on Aug 1st...

I expect the Pens to have at least one major UFA signed before Tuesday, if not two.

I'm in an overly optomistic mood. All FAs will sign on the dotted line monday afternoon.

I expect a few re-signings and maybe a couple new signings from last season's negotiations (Kovalev to Pittsburgh - etc).

Eklunds a fool, he's the opposite of king midas. Everything he touches turns to crap(PRONGERS GOING TO BE TRADED IN 24 HOURS!)

There shouldn't be any signings, otherwise that will signal teams were tampering, thats why I think it's fishy eklund and his 'insiders' say so and so will go to these places.

I'm thinking that the morning will be quiet....come the first big signing or two in the early afternoon, the players are going to go nuts.

Once the first couple go, they are going to start coming out of the woodwork worried that the teams they really want to go to won't have enough money to sign them and they will cave for less of a ticket.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't their a ton of RFA's that haven't been qualified yet? You want to make it more nuts, watch teams only keep 20% of their underage guys, which I'm betting is going to happen.

I'm expecting minor mayhem tomorrow and the next day. That's my guess. A lot of UFAs will have decided where they are going by now, through one back channel or another *wink* *wink* *nudge* *nudge*. If they money is right and its sitting there, they'll be grabbing it before someone else does.

Look at past UFA open season, a lot of guys seem to sign straight out of no where. They've had a whole year off and then some to think about this.

I think there will be plenty of lower level players being signed tomorrow. It might take a day or two for some of the elite players to sign, most agents will want their players to wait and see what the going rates will be.

Tallon said Chicago will be busy with significant signings early on, most likely tomorrow. Aucoin and Foote are rumoured to be the biggest targets.
