Wow. Kopitar and Staal are still available in the teens. If any one of them drops down to 12-14, do we trade up to get them? We've definately got the resources with the three 2nd rounders.

Rangers trade number 16 and 41 to Thrashers for number 12 overall.

Marc Staal is a Ranger!!

Unbelievable that the draft has turned out well, I think Staal will be a great player.

i'm ok with it. he's a good prospect, solid pick. my only real concern is that he's not really the top tier #1 defenseman the rangers need...but he's another solid top 4 guy who could be a top 2 if he really develops

i might have liked a forward pick better, but there weren't any real sure things at forward left either, lots of guys with question marks...and like i said in the other thread, staal is solid and a top 10 pick the rangers got at 12. it's a value pick

I really like this pick.

Staal and Parent are two guys that could have Phaneuf type rises the year after they get drafted. They both are stay at homers with some offensive potential(Staal moreso than Parent) and once Staal puts up some offensive numbers next year being experienced watch him rise bigtime.

He's really lanky, once he fills out he'll be much more physical and smooth IMO.

You know, my heart wanted Bourret or Latendresse, but my head says this was the right move. I hate Sather though. "He looks like Jim Schoenfeld, and he played along time..."? Are you frikking kidding me??? Dont let this guy near a mike. Kudos to the rest of the staff for making a strong power move.

I dont know, a lot of scouting services put him as a top 2 man and some even a #1 defensman (Adam Foote type).

Again to the Rangers staff for being able to get him.

I don't think so. He's just going to be more experienced and have confidence offensively. SUD is gonna rely on him heavily and I love this pick once again lol.

Also, forgetting about his steady defence...smarts and intelligence are two great things about him. IMO he's as good a lock as anyone to improve his game and make it to the NHL.

Skille was already taken. I wouldn't mind it the least to get another one and take the tank Bourret.

it's going to cost a player/prospect to move up. What are you willing to part with?

Unless the Rangers have a guy rated really highly that fell/is falling to the 20's like say a Mikus, I don't want to trade anyone.

With the selections of Price at 5, Setoguchi at 8, Lee at 9, and Pokulok at 14 we should hang tight.

We will have the best darn defensive team that can't score any goals.
