On a positive note, did any other season ticket holders here get that insane gift bag from the oilers?

I opened it up today. There was a simple card thanking us for being a sponsor. After that a pair of blue oiler mittens.

Like the hockey team, it was disappointing.....
It is pretty obvious to me the Oilers don't take their season ticket holders seriously and it shows in the entertainment part of their business. It is a putrid business model they are running and if they think people will keep supporting such crap it is coming to an end.

Look at the bright side, at least the Oilers can be 26 points out of the playoffs by Christmas (already 20 out).

Serious question... I wonder if MacT has the balls to fire Eakins and replace him with... wait for it... Krueger. He seems, at least with players, to be able to admit when he is wrong and take steps to correct it. Can he do the same with coaches?

If we are going to fire Eakins I'd hope we can hire someone better than Krueger.

Perhaps someone that has coached a winning hockey team in the NHL before.

I hope they don't, because the only way he signs here is for an absolutely ridiculous amount of money, and MacT is going to be so panicky this summer, he just might blow the entire salary cap increase on him.

Yep the coach that had Ryan Smyth play majority of pre season games and was convinced he was the best option on Lw top line He has no idea how to coach in a league of this Caliber.

But I thought we played a really good second. That's what people were telling me. Shouldn't that be sufficient?

So why did people not like Krueger so much? Didn't watch a lot last year but what were his pros/cons in comparison to now.

If the draft was today, we'll be picking 2nd. We're improving, Mac T!

We are in the serious running for another #1 overall pick. That is beyond insane and pathetic. It's not even McDavid's draft year... it's Reinhart or Ekblad (though honestly I'd prefer Draisaitl or Dal Colle).
The incompetence of this organization...

He seemed to be a terrible 5 on 5 coach. We were fine with playing Switzerland's game, which our defense wasn't good enough to handle.

Basically, we would take A LOT of shots against, and would barely take any shots ourselves every, single, game.

It was annoying, but it wasn't this bad.

Yes hall generated the most chances but as a first overall talent he should've had 2 goals tonight. Probably would've won too.

Not all Eakins fault. He has 1/2 of an NHL roster to work with. That said I'd be happy with Krueger back.

Well you see, Krueger didn't make the playoffs with a roster significantly worse than this one, in a rushed season with no training camp. So obviously he's a crappy coach.

Serious answer: he made some mistakes early in the season but he perhaps could have been a decent coach if he wasn't disposed of so quickly. Eakins will never be a good coach even if he got 5+ seasons in the NHL... I guarantee that. Both are inexperienced, but Krueger is smart, Eakins is not.

Eberle headed to the net and was physical tonight. Hall did a toe-drag that worked. Bryzgalov looked awesome.

That's about it.

Yea he was bad but guess what we are worse under Eakins 5/5 and lets not even talk about the pp.
