I expect Toronto to make a major move soon, they have been on a downward spiral since Nov 1st after starting 10-4-0, they are now 2 games under .500 going 11-14-5 the last 30 games. They expected to be an even better team than last year, which hasn't materialized.

they are better than last year, they are more or less doing with a depleted roster what we are doing right now with a full squad

Not even close.

In their last 30 games, Habs are 17-8-5. Leafs are 11-14-5. Outside of their annual Christmas slump, and as ugly as it's been at times, the Habs have only 8 regulation losses in their last 30 games played. The Leafs have lost almost half their games.

On top of that, the Leafs have only 14 ROWs on the season, which means a lot of their wins come in a shoot-out. Habs have 22 ROWS, which is 3rd best in the East after Pittsburgh and Boston and 7th in the league.

The only injured player of any significance for the Leafs right now is Bolland. Now that Bozak is back, the Leafs have lost 2 straight against the Rangers and Isles losing by a combined score of 12-4.

The only winning month that they've had was October. They were below .500 in November and December, and frankly, they sucked in October too. The only reason they won so much was that their goaltending was playing unbelievable. Habs have not had a losing record in any month yet.

I completely agree, no idea why people are trying to put as at the same level as the Leafs.

The only thing they have better than us is offense, but overall our goal differential is still +21 better than theirs.

Every year same ...They go off the rails last half of season and miss.
Last year that changed for one year, they had to play 48 games in a season ...otherwise they missed again.

I don't think any moves will help it, been same deal for a lot of
years there, the record and stats show it .

A major"panic" move will just set them back ,another 5 years.
All the moves they've made(trading away),has got them in the mess(not makin playoffs) ....

1 regulation win in last 24 is a crazy stat .
If it wasn't for the goalies at start of season playing out of the world good. ..they'd be down with Buffalo.

There goalies are now back on earth, teams in huge trouble .

I was thinking the same thing, then I looked at the draft choices they have already traded. I am not sure what kind of a major deal they can pull off. They don't have a lot on defense that would bring them much in return, despite the amount they try to inflate Gardiner's value. Their goaltending has come back down to earth and among their forwards they either have no-trade contracts or are named Nazeem Kadri.

As Hab fans,

Were 27th over all in 5 on 5 scoring...
Our Goalie has a 2.22 goals against avg.....

If it wasn't for him(saving us),we'd be out right now.
Reminds me the way Halak saved Jacques Martin .
So until i see us climb the rank in 5 on 5 scoring, very little comfort here.
The mention of a tweeky groin as we just heard on Price, everyone should
sit up ....

If anything, losing Bozak for time helped their record. We complain about Desharnais who at least holds his own as long as he's in an exploitation role, Bozak only treads water despite being carried by better wingers than we have.

And as far as the Habs vs Leafs goes...we have nothing to be proud of because the numbers suggest we are in for a decline ourselves if things don't change...but the Leafs have been horribly outplayed from day one, relying on goalies even more than we have. It was only a matter of time for Bernier to burn out, and as soon as Kessel & co's shooting percentage went down a little....

The Leafs are one of the strangest teams in the league, they made some good to brilliant trades and signings only to shoot themselves in the foot with equally bad moves (locking down Bozak, overpaying Clarkson, letting Grabovski go for nothing), combined with Carlyle's regressive coaching that makes Therrien look like Babcock.

Carlyle and Therrien are pretty much identical in the coaching department. They are both stubborn, terrible at adjusting, they both show favortism toward specific players and harbor grudges against other players.

Price has saved our season so far...we have needs that have yet to be met...every GM in the league knows we need size, and are probably holding MB ransom, every time he calls...

Gardiner would probably get them either a very good rental or decent player(not on a bad contract) the problem is they are up against the cap so they'd have to dump salary in the deal thus lowering Gardiner's value.

It goes both ways, last year Price didn't have as good a year and the offense compensated. As much as they haven't played great the last 4-5 weeks, they found a way to weather the storm and not lose ground. Bad teams in that situation go on a downward spiral.

Therrien was that coach his first time here, but he's improved after his initial Habs tour and Pittsburgh stint. Is he the best coach in the NHL? Probably not but we could do a lot worse. His results so far has excedded anybody's expectationsd yet everybody ***** on him...

Seeing that both the Leafs and Bruins lost last night in regulation is a good night.

Just noticed that the Ducks were also 18-0-2 on home ice this season. Having no regulation losses at home thus far is quite impressive.

The guy who never uses a timeout to slow a game day ?
The guy who breaks up pairings that are doing well to try to get some ****** bottom pair dman going, yet he keeps them together anyways ?
The guy who switches his lines up once we get a goal so that we fall into a defensive posture instead of staying the course that got us into the lead in the first place ?
The guy who wants midgets to be grinders ?
The guy who wants lines to be the pp unit, instead of the best players ?
The guy who seemingly wants Bouillon and Gorges to be on the pp, but not Emelin ?
The guy who doesn't suggest/change anything about our pp. The same old work it around until we can get PK to shoot then hope for the best.
The guy who didn't attempt to send, or even punish Gionta after he had what, 1 goal in 17 games, or some **** like that.
The guy who punishes Briere right away, but took forever to do something with Desharnais.
The guy who puts his 4th line out after a goal regardless who scored it.

The only thing he did that looks good, and I don't even know if he had anything to do with it was putting Pacioretty on the pk.

Jacques Martin is likely worse than this guy, but at the same time saying Therrien is a big part of our "success" is like saying Martin was big in our run to the ECF.

This whole "Defend the lead, regardless of score" mentality is ********. If the puck is in their end, they're going to have a lot more trouble scoring on us rather than us not forechecking and letting them walk into our zone.

You knew the Leafs' goaltending was going to come back down to earth. No way they could keep that up.

Habs have already come back down to earth. Our 5-on-5 play was much better in October and November then it was in December. We really started to slide in December. The Leafs definitely have better offensive performers than we do, especially on the wing with Kessel, JVR, and Lupul. But our D and goaltending is much better than theirs, and our forwards for the most part do an acceptable job in our end, while theirs are complete crap in their own end.

Our down to earth is .500 hockey. It hasn't been pretty, but that's essentially what we've been playing since around Christmas. Win one, lose one, lose one in OT/SO, win one, etc. etc. the beat goes on....

I can't say I'm proud of the way the Habs have been playing. No, I won't go that far, but seriously, the Leafs are awful.

Yeah, Bozak doesn't seem to have had the affect that some Leafs' fans thought he would, but they were awful when he was in the line-up prior to his injury anyway. He doesn't seem to make that much of a difference.

I think they are a better 5 on 5 team than they showed in December. Gionta's already broken out as has Briere, now if only Eller Gallagher and Bourque could pot a few.

Last 7 games, only 3 PP goals but 22 goals. It's not a star studded group up front so offense is needed from all 3 lines and occasionally the 4th.

Urbom claimed by the Devils, which was the team that originally waived him when he went to the Caps.

What's interesting is that to accommodate the roster space for Urbom, Jacob Josefson mysteriously went from being a healthy scratch to the injured reserve list. Lamoriello later claimed Josefson would be out a few days with "a virus". Uh huh...

Weird, Martin and Carboneau were able to exceed people's expectations and have better playoff success with arguably worse rosters (in Martin's case, for sure worse). Well at least he isn't Cunneyworth bad, I give you that.

He probably thinks that the NHL will come back on it's decision and NOT make them forfeit their pick in the end, especially if it's high one. That's pretty much the only possible explanation on why he kept the 29th a few years back. Or he's really dumb, which seems unlikely given that he has been the GM for such a long time.
