I remember when the ballots came around asking who I wanted as GM. The fans are obviously to blame for such a debacle, we get to choose after all.

Cal Clutterbuck holstered his stick after scoring on a penalty shot, I sure as hell hope we hear some outrage!

Will we though?

I think there was another poster on here that was asking about Shane Doan. He sort of mysteriously disappeared from the Coyotes line-up with a flu that's lasted almost 3 weeks.

Well, TSN is reporting that he's been diagnosed with Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, a very serious infection resulting from a tick bite. It can be fatal if not treated properly.

He's on antibiotics and is week to week. Hopefully, the antibiotics work and he's back on the ice soon.

Well, he did say before the draft that the Habs should trade their 3rd (Galchenyuk) and Subban for Edmonton's 1st (Yakupov)...

Did he say the Habs should do that or that's what it would take for the Oilers to consider moving 1st overall?

Serge Savard did that, but unfortunately they had stone hands and couldn't skate.

He did, but the move he advocated the most was the 3rd overall for Jordan Staal.

I think the edmonton thing was more along the lines of what Edmonton would want in return. I don't think he ever actually came out and said that he would do the deal from a MTL perspective.

That being said, anybody with a clue about Mcguire's megalomaniacal streak as a coach would suggest keeping a GM position away from him at any cost.

If Mcguire truly wanted to be a GM, he could have accepted assistant GM positions and within a year or two perhaps gotten a few extra interviews to tip the odds in his favor. The fact that he seemingly wants to take the easy route to becoming a general manager is what turned me off of him. That and his crazy ego.

My list for habs GM went:

Nill
Jarmo
Bergevin

Jarmo is an incredible talent evaluator. However, it would be very difficult to have brought him in as a GM considering he's not even from North America, let alone Quebec. I'd have just thrown bags of money at him and offer him Dudley's position or something crazy like co-GM.

Jim Nill would have been money. Look what he's done with a Dallas team in such a short period with a lot less talent than Montreal has.

No he didn't. He said that's likely what the Oilers would ask in return. He never said he would do it.

George Laraque's brain is totally functionnal (from LaPresse+ screenshot)

According to the article, that isn't a speculation. I just thought that use of the function was funny.

GoogleTranslated quote from the article.

Quote:
About 90 minutes later, Louis De Beaumont returns and analyzes the results with his staff. Former tough guy is smiling as he left the doctor's office . "As I predicted, it's positive. I learned that I was doing things too fast , but in my case since childhood ... "

Louis De Beaumont agrees: " To date, the brain Georges is in very good condition, it works well. This is a very good performance. The fighters who lose fights retain significant sequelae and lose a lot of speed in processing information. This is not the case. It shows the balance in his life. "

Georges Laraque won the first part of his bet, he has no sequelae. He won the second is to encourage his colleagues to do the same ? Louis De Beaumont questioned.

" Everyone knows that George has not lost in combat, but others, it is clear that it will scare them . But this is the thing to do , medicine can help . "

IIRC, it was a 'family decision' that kept him from taking the montreal job, but he did take the interview, unless I'm mistaken, which was a first for him. Generally detroit would shut down anyone wanting to talk with him. If I had to bet on it, Mrs. Nill didn't want to come here.

I think it's more difficult to bring in someone you'll eventually have to fire due to incompetence with regards to talent evaluation, but that's just me. I was disappointed when I found out Jarmo was never even contacted. But hey, that's what you get for trying to be rational.
