Steve Mason wants ''Carey Price money''

I was looking up Carey Price news and came across this, so I thought I'd share.

What would you guys think if he signed long term? Did he convince you guys he would be a legit starter?

He's an RFA with about three months of quality play under his belt with the team. He's going to have to win the Vezina if he wants to get close to Price's number.

If he actually thinks that then God help us. That's if he actually thinks that.

Agent's job is to get as much money as possible for their clients. This is just agent posturing before a negotiation. My guess is it will be 2-3 years at $4.5 mil. He will still be young enough to score big in UFA.

Can we make this the default answer whenever this is brought up?

I want Carey Price money as well. I, like Mason, will have to live in reality.

Yeah I posted the agent's "comparable" in another thread and most people agree it's just a negotiating point. If Mason and his agent actually think or demand that kind of money ..well he can walk even if other options are limited and Stolarz is some time away. That Bryz contract was bad kharma so possibly overpaying another goalie definitely has most Flyers fans concerned.....

Would you settle for a gold plated toilet seat? That is what Mason will have to do b/c we can't afford more fools gold in net...

Fair deal for Mason would be in the 4-4.5 range in my opinion

He's an RFA so his bargaining power isn't great. Not sure what he'll get but I don't think it will be in the Carey Price realm.

Lol, 6 years at $6.5m? That would put him top 5 in the NHL for goalie cap hits. Lundqvist, Rinne, Rask, Price...Mason? Bob got $5.6m for only 2 years after winning the Vezina and never having 4 years of complete crap in his career.

If we were to give him that kind of money, I would trade him for Bryz, and I hate him

I'd be okay with 4 years $18 million. $4.5 million annually

that should be enough time until Stolarz is ready

Extra weight is gonna make it hard for the Veyron to get up to 268 mph.

A sacrifice I would be willing to make in this circumstance.

The supermodels could get out and push. They are "super", after all.

What would this type of contract bring back if he were offer-sheeted?

If it brings back a 1st round pick or 2. I just let Mason go elsewhere and sign one of the available UFA goalies (Miller, Hiller, Halak) to a bridge deal and let Stolarz develop.

This sounds reasonable^^^
Carey Price isn't worth 6years @ 39mil, the man is a choker when it comes to the playoffs
Mason is a RFA at end of season so he will get what Flyers offer or whatever other teams offer than the Flyers will counter offer
