TJ Oshie gets 1st career hat trick/1st 20+ goal season/1st 60 point season

Didn't see this mentioned after a search, so just giving Oshie his due. In the game against the Wild last night, he gets his first career hatty, scoring goals 19, 20 & 21 for his first 20+ goal season and with the 3 goals hits the 60 point mark for the first time in his career pretty memorable game for him. TJ's been on fire pretty much since Steen went down with his concussion, but has really been lighting it up since the birth of his daughter. Also with last nights game he becomes the 5th 20+ goal scorer on the Blues roster.

Anyways, I usually always see a thread when someone gets a hat trick, with Backes (whose been on fire as well, and with 27 total goals has a real shot at being the 2nd 30 goal scorer on the team) getting the hatty the game before against the Leafs, I just thought I'd combine the two here.

He is living the life right now. Olympic hero, career year on a very good St. Louis team poised to go on a run in the playoffs.. it's all good right now for him.

No offense but how is he exactly an olympic hero? All he did was win a qualification game, that didn't help the us win anything in the end..

Grats to him though, good player, definitely a fun guy to watch.

Can you really call him an Olympic hero when his team didn't even medal? Aside from that, the guys on a roll.

I should clarify - he's as close to an Olympic hero as the US was going to get this time around. And that seems to be good enough for most non-hockey fans that I've spoken too. He's definitely not done anything worth the term 'hero' but eh, people like to pretend the US actually accomplished something.

That shootout was talked about by..everyone.

Oshie is the man. One of my favorite players in the league. One of the only non-Ranger jerseys I own.

Since the Olympics I've taken to calling him 'Mr. Shootout'. I hope he stays a shootout wizard until the end of his career/end of the shootout era so that maybe I can make that nickname stick. Lol.

Maybe because his popularity has skyrocketed? His jersey is the 2nd most selling in the entire league now behind Crosby, he gained 200,000 followers on Twitter, has done tons of national interviews, got written to by the president, and will be in a nationally aired Enterprise commercial during the playoffs.

Hero or not he's had a hell of a last 2 months.

Exactly. To the hardcore fan, he isn't an olympic hero because US ultimately didn't medal. To the people who kind of followed Olympic hockey, but aren't huge NHL fans (which is a ton of people), he's a hero because he did something notable in a huge game on the national stage.
