Huh, is this legit?

That certainly is weird, and I'm beginning to think Larry Quinn had something to do with this move. Tim Kennedy is a local product and Quinn has gone on record that he'd like to see more WNY's on the Sabres.

Nothing against the kid, but this move leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Local is nice. But can he play? And with the way the Sabres treat most of their late-rounders, do you really want to put a local family through non-contact and eventual jettisoning just so one can say they are trying to help local hockey to the local media?

Kennedy was selected RIGHT before Buffalo chose Adam Dennis.

Why am I envisioning this scenerio in which Quinn pouted after Kennedy was taken before Buffalo's pick, then later demanded Darcy to get on the phone and make a move?

God I hate Quinn.

Maybe I'm biased because I went to Timon, but I don't see why so many people are getting upset about this move. Larry Quinn being an idiot aside, we essentially got a 6th round selection for a 6th round pick next year.

I remember a few years back when Kennedy was a Soph at Timon and I got to see him play. I was completely amazed and stored his name in the back of my head. I moved away to the DC area and loss track of him. I was hoping he would resurface and I am thrilled that he has a chance to develop for the Sabres.

Local kid that can score and had over 100 PIM last season. Lets support him instead of bash Quinn like we always do.

Well... techinically its not a bad move at all.

We traded for a 6th round pick for a future 6th round pick. If it was a 6th rd pick for next years 5th rd pick than you could get mad.

Regardless of whether this kid pans out or not, your getting an extra 6th rd pick this year and giving up your 6th rd pick next year. No harm really.

And don't forget.....it's a 6th rounder.I know there are late round steals, but 6th round picks almost amount to nothing anyway.

The Caps thought so. That's good enough for me.

Looks like a pretty solid prospect for the price.

As I stated earlier, it's nothing against the kid. I'm simply questioning the principle of making a move like this.

I can't help think Larry Quinn had something to do with this. Drafting a player and trading his rights literally hours after the pick? This happens often in the NBA, but the NHL, no. As we all know...Quinn is very hands on, and I'm not sure if Darcy (Luce and Co. as well) is calling the shots anymore. LQ seems to be playing the role of GM, scout, and mascot all at the same time, and it stinks of all heck. Quinn needs to take a backseat and let these guys do their thing.

As far as Kennedy is concerned, he has my full support. I was going to back him 100 percent as a Capital. It's great to see locals drafted into the NHL.
