Longest Undefeated Streak by a Goalie to start an NHL career?

Hey guys, Kings undrafted 6'4 goalie Martin Jones has been unbelievably poised en route to a 7-0 record to start his NHL career. Did a quick google search, couldn't find what the longest undefeated streak was immediately after their first start (won't count relief appearances cause those are kind of a wild card).

Does anyone know? I'm sure it can't be seven, I would guess someone has gone much longer with ties included and whatnot.

Also, just for fun, does anyone know the longest losing streak for a goalie in the same situation?

Patrick Lalime started out 14-0-2.

Fuhr came close I'd say.

In 1980-81, Fuhr lost his first ever start then proceeded to go undefeated in 23 straight games.

It came up when Fasth was on his own streak. I think Emery held the record with 8-0-0 or 9-0-0 and Fasth tied him for it. But dont quote me on that my memory is quite shaky...

Bob Froese started 8-0-0 and then 12-0-1 (the 1 being a tie).

I remember Lalime starting out great. That has to be the record.

Jones tied the record today for most consecutive WINS to start a career.

The Lalime and Fuhr stats are crazy though.

He could be a great goalie or he could become Bocher a record holder for most shutout minutes.Boucher was a good nhl goalie but never became an elite goalie

This came up during my 1982-83 research today, so I figured that I would create a FAQ entry:

http://www.hockeygoalies.org/faq/rookiestreaks.html

This link came up in my Google work, so I figured that I would chime in. If anyone has anything to flesh out the FAQ page, I'd love it (in particular, who held the records prior to Durnan and Froese).

Somehow forgot Ray Emery (who does hold the NHL winning streak record, at 9-0-0) in my initial list. (oops)

In my defense, most of the articles accompanying Fasth's and Jones' pursuits forgot him as well.

It's Emery (wins) and Lalime (non losses).

That's why I put the link up above.

rookie Pete Peeters was 22-0-5 with the Flyers in 79-80 during their incredible 35-game undefeated streak.

time to update your Peeters page, Chalupa?:
http://hockeygoalies.org/bio/peeters.html

& the rookie streaks page.

i remember Peeters being a pretty big deal that season, he really shone in the playoffs & was probably the Flyers' best player en route to the Finals against the Isles.

Peeters' streak, although very impressive, wasn't from the start of his career.

I'll probably get another FAQ entry together (in the near future) for longest streaks overall. Peeters would also be on that list for his 31-game streak in 1982-83.

No worries - and you gave me an idea for a great FAQ addition, so I'm still pretty happy.

oh, actually, Wikipedia says:
"Peeters was called up by the Flyers in 1980 sharing the net with Phil Myre. Peeters started with a 22–0–5 record before losing his first game of the season on February 19."

True, but he played five games the year before (going 1-2-1):
http://www.hockeygoalies.org/bio/peeters.html

He won his debut:

Then tied:

But then lost his third decision:
