Chicago 1982 fight in the stands

This is from a playoff game vs the North Stars. I've never seen anything quite like it.

Never saw or heard tell of that episode before. Nowadays, the camera would turn away from that type of stuff!

I remember watching that game live. Tom Reid and Bob Kurtz on the TV call. I had never seen anything quite like it. Late in the game, Darryl Sutter stepped on a coin which had been thrown on the ice (along with a lot of other debris) and crashed in to the boards, damaging his shoulder and was lost for the remainder of playoffs. He was really unfortunate with all the injuries that he had. The Hawks could have used a player like him against Vancouver that year.

Incidentally, according to Wikipedia, that game (April 10 1982) was watched by the biggest crowd in Chicago Stadium history (20,069) for a Blackhawks game.

according to this SI article, it looks like it was started when somebody threw a bottle at Meloche and security guards swarmed the area.
