The problem with Crane is we have tons of guys exactly like him on the roster: hard workers who can't score in the AHL. Worcester needs guys that can put the puck in the net, and if Gourde ignores the "Sommer style" and plays like he did at the end of 11-12 he should help in scoring some goals.

I get that but most guys that can put the puck in the net are very likely already signed somewhere.

I just meant adding another actual forward to the roster so when the next injury hits an actual forward can skate at forward rather then using a d-man.

My list is a couple weeks old, but there's actually quite a few ECHL "goal scorers" available...of course a few of them have been duds in the AHL in limited action they saw. Plus some of them are tiny. The number of 5'7" to 5'11" guys in the ECHL & CHL is astounding.

Is Yanni in RI today or are we going to have to wait until Friday to see the
Yanni in teal?

Just IMHO he has looked better. Still not the physical presence he could be with his size. He seems engaged in the game the majority of the time; this is not a given this year.

He seemed to get targeted for abuse by opponents early in the season, due IMHO to his size and limited ability to throw his weight around. He looks more physical now.

No word yet...as I just posted on twitter it's a 12 hour drive from Kalamazoo to Worcester and I couldn't find any flights between Kalamazoo and Providence.

He never will be, it's not the game he plays.

I agree but I don't really have a big problem with that as long as he uses his size and reach to his advantage (angling opponents to where he wants them to go, using his stick, etc.) and he's gotten much, much better at that this season in my opinion.

Yeah, positionally he's light years better than last season.

So much for all the positive talk about him recently, Taylor Doherty having one of the worst games in his pro career...

He's just like Petrecki. As soon as anyone says anything good about him he has to go out and prove them wrong.

Are both their issues mainly mental? Is it bad positioning? Pinching at the wrong time?

If Yanni had made it, this would not be happening.

Neither pinches at all (well, occasionally they do, but it's never an issue).

Petrecki, for the most part, makes mistakes of aggression. It irks me to no end when he does it, but afterward when you look at the play with some objectivity it's his aggressiveness that SJ wants to see.

Doherty's issue is positioning and decision making. Both have gotten a lot better this season (today notwithstanding). No one looked particularly good today

Worcester T+G Worcester Sharks ready for major roster changes

http://www.telegram.com/article/2014...43/1009/SPORTS
Sources say the Sharks are also trying to add Tyler Gron, the leading scorer for their ECHL affiliate in San Francisco. Gron, who is less than 6 feet tall but 195 pounds, began the season with Idaho before being dealt to the Bulls. He is 14-11-25 and plus-8 in 17 games with San Francisco.
Can anyone who has seen him describe his play?

I'm pretty glad I didn't watch the game yesterday but I'd really, really like if someone would ask Sommer why it is that all of the roster changes over the years continues to result in a crap hockey team and at what point does he point the finger at himself and take some responsibility for being the issue.

I wasn't going to reply...and maybe I shouldn't.

I can't ask that.

I really, REALLY, REALLY want to, but there's no way I can because while I have great access (certainly greater than most bloggers who cover the AHL have) if I go around antagonizing hockey operations with questions like that my pass would probably be yanked pretty quickly. (And, I wouldn't blame them one iota).

We all know what the issues are. We all know that they won't be fixed until DW has no choice.

I know - I just don't get how Sommer can continually throw his skaters under the bus but never take any kind of responsibility for what's going on on the ice.

Gron has been our best player by far since coming from Idaho. 25 points in 18 games. Good luck, man!
