Daniel Briere vs Andrei Kostitsyn

If, for some reason, Andrei Kostitsyn was available last off-season and was willing to sign back in Montreal @ $4M per year for two years (I think AK's cap hit with Traktor is lower than that) would you rather have had AK or Briere?

AK, no question but it's not worth making a thread about this IMO.

AK is just not the kind of player the Habs would go after especially after all the hate he got when he played here.

I take AK at 3 million over DB, Bourque and DD any day.

And I'm not saying that because I hate those guys, Kostitsyn used to be my favorite player when he played here and I was one of his biggest supporter.

AK - Eller
DD - Max Pac
Gallagher - Galchenyuk

That's our duos right there.

He also has chemistry with Plekanec and showed nice things with Desharnais when Martin put Pacioretty, DD and Kostitsyn together. People are gonna bring up his stats in his last season with us but he was playing with Scott ****ing Gomez.

AK would be a better fit easily. I'd also take him over Bourque.

Didn't live up to the lofty expectations of coming out of the 2003 draft but he still was a legit NHLer. Would take him back in a heartbeat over guys like Briere, Bourque, DD but that boat has come and gone

Remember we drafted Kostitsyn before Jeff Carter, Getzlaf, Dustin Brown,Seabrook, Parise, Kesler, Mike Richards, Patrice Bergeron , Shea Weber and Corey Perry. Sorry but can we have one of these players ?

I would have brought AK46 back this summer but that's just me. He's shown he's willing to take a small contract to play in a city he loves, more than we can say about most players in the league about Montreal. AK consistently put up 40-50 points with very little PP/top 6 time. He'd be a better option than Prust/Briere in the top 9.

I'd take him back over a lot of forwards we have. He provides what we need the most: size and scoring depth. Unless you expect him to be the guy that will carry this team, something he'll never do, I don't see the downside of having im back. He could be a solid 3rd liner that can replace in the top 6 when there are injuries.

I hate saying that, but he probably doesn't have enough "character" for our management.

Between the 2, I belive I take Kostitsyn, Bigger, younger and he would be a better fit on Eller wing... But I would never give him 4M$ or 2 years because he doesn't give a 120% or have a great attitude...

Briere as better attitude and experience but is just a bad fit for the team... MB took a risk but it was more of a PR move than anything else.

Could Alexander Perezhogin be a option?

AK46 is stronger, faster, more skilled and physical... exactly what this team would need right now.

This : Galchenyuk-Eller-AK46

Tough call IMO. Production wise Kosty wins hands down but attitude wise? I'm not sure about it. Remember his no "Je suis" during an opening ceremony? And let's not forget this:

http://www.thestar.com/sports/hockey...predators.html

It's arguable/possible Kosty is a locker room cancer. On that note I have to lean towards Danny

If you make it Kovalev vs Briere instead, it will at least it be a fairer fight.

Kostitsyn would take over a game once every 4 games or so. Briere is useless.

I want to know if Kostisyn was Timmins guy or Gainey picked him over the other options on Timmins' list.

AK

Wouldn't be against bringing him back on the cheap, although I seriously doubt that would ever happen.
