Steve Poapst signs with Pens

I admit I never heard of the guy. I was wondering what your impressions of him as a Blackhawk were.

Thanks in advance.

Poapst is a great team guy. He's a fine 6-7 dman. Anything more and he's exposed. A journeyman dman - cheap

He's a good #6 defenseman. Seems to get along with everyone well. Yea, that's about all I can say.

Poapst isn't as bad as some on here are saying. He's just a guy without a whole heck of a lot of talent. Positionally he's good. He has little mobility. The reason he didn't play in the NHL earlier is that he's a 5'11" 185lbs stay at home dman.

He makes up for shortcomings with determination and hard work. My question is how much that will cover his other inadequacies as he is 37 or 38 now...

He's no worse than Bergevin was in his last years. If used properly, they're alright.

Wow, sounds like the second coming of Ian Moran. I don't think the Pens are going to feature him in a prominent role anyway. I just figured he was probably Thibault's buddy or something.
