Not sure how often this happens maybe a little weird on New Years day, My guess it doesnt happen often thats why Russo tweeted it

Michael Russo ‏@Russostrib 26m
#mnwild owner Craig Leipold watching practice this morning

Quote from Blog
Owner Craig Leipold is watching practice. Not the first time, but still of note. Leipold won't comment on the Wild's recent plummet.

I think that's exactly what's going on. GM's get three coaches maximum before it falls on them, if GMCF fires Yeo and the new coach doesn't turn it around it could very well be his job at the end of the season.

If he waits until the end of the season, he can blame Yeo, go through free agency/trades and pick a new coach. If he fires him now and the team doesn't turn it around, it could come down on him at the end of the season too.

taking Graff's and Russo's "quotes" from practice it almost seems like Yeo feels he is already gone

would prefer to see a trade shakeup but there is no way this team can allow 6 regulation losses in a row without some repercussions, wouldn't send the right message

Here is my new prediction!! Keep in mind I thought for sure he was fired after Sunday's game.

If the Wild lose 1 of the next 2 games at home he will be fired. If they win both he survives thru the next 2 game road trip, If they split the 2 road games he stays, if he loses both on the road hes gone.

My thoughts exactly. And if that is the case, then

Starting to wonder if it's too late to make a difference anyway. Central division is ridiculously difficult.

Props where it's due, the Nino-Granlund-Zucker line was very good and taking Brodziak off the third line was a smart move.

Nice to see that Yeo's line shuffling worked. How did Coyle look like as 3C?

Coyle looked fairly invisible to me. Nothing much stood out. He's like that most nights though.

I tried to watch him a bit more than others, he seemed like he was too focused on not making that 1 defensive mistake that could lead to a goal than trying to be creative on the offense, he did get a couple of good chances on net just couldn't bury them.

wasn't a bad game or a good game imo, may have been somewhat invisible but if ur not getting scored on thats ok.

It might be okay to be invisible if you're a bottom six checking line center, but we traded Brent Burns for him to be a scoring power forward. This is exactly what we don't want, James Sheppard 2.0. Highly touted prospect gets put on the checking line because management didn't bring in the right players.

I don't think Coyle holds as 3C for the rest of the season. I see Fletcher working to get another C, thus allowing Coyle to move back to wing.

He hasnt even played the equivalent of 1 NHL season. Hes only played 68 NHL games and has 25 points that would equate to roughly 30 points in first full season no need to set the panic alarm yet

I kind of like Coyle as the third line center. I would keep him at that spot there for awhile and see how he does. Turn him into a Dave Bolland 2.0. The offensive side of his game isn't there yet so he shouldn't be in the top 6. It should take some pressure off him as well. Let him develop in this position. If he starts scoring you can move him up but he is an upgrade over Brodziak at this spot. Just stop bouncing him back and forth between wing/center and see how he plays

Worse comes to worse, if you have an injury in the Top 6 during the game you can easily slot him into it.

Why can't he develop that offensive game in the minors? Where he would get to play with other emerging prospects against a little easier competition for more minutes plus power play time? Isn't that the point of the minor leagues?

Decided to end my lurk-age and post.

A lot of posts mentioned that even a win against Buffalo is still only a win against Buffalo. And I felt the same way had it been a 2-1 or 1-0 win. Did the 2nd period save Yeo for longer than a close win or loss would have?

I think he bought himself 2-3 more losses against beatables teams.

If he continues struggling on the 3rd line I would be okay with that.

I hope not. I want him tossed asap. I'm guessing we perform modestly against Washington and end up with a tough loss. Maybe then he gets fired. If Washington comes in and dominates us for 60 minutes then he damn well better be fired.

Like i said before, if the team can win under his reign im ok w/ waiting until the seasons over to replace him, either way tho it seems this will be the last season of Yeo weather it be cut short or not. Unless of course, he makes the playoffs and pulls a win out of the first round then we may or may not see a change.

Agreed - Put quality where you can. Coyle bangs well on the boards as a winger, but he is a better option as 3rd line center than Brodziak, who is mucho better than Konopka as 4th liner.
