It sucks the fight ended that way. It will be even worse if that's how his career ends.

Pulled a Kevin Ware right there.

Still the greatest ever, and it's a shame it had to end that way for him, but karma is a *****.

Spent my day off today watching DVR'd WJC games. Fantastic. I love having Mondays off.

Anyone have any New Year's plans? Doing a package deal with a bunch of a people at a bar, pretty good deal. Have to work New Years Day which sucks but oh well.

Not a damn thing planned here. Think we are just going to stay in this go around, maybe have a friend or two over if they get out of work early enough. I love where we are and moved to, but it's a crap area for nights like tonight and gets flooded with people from the suburbs. Just don't want to deal with that, and don't want to go to a house party that I'd have to fight for a bed or then have to drive home. Gonna go get a nice bottle of wine and some scallops from Whole Foods, and maybe made some handmade raviolis.

Was given some tickets to the Chick Fil A Bowl tonight, but have decided I just don't feel like taking the train to and from there, and driving is out of the question.

I don't think I'm going out tonight either. I'm looking at like a 50 min train ride into the city, then an el ride to a buddies, and then paying a whole bunch of money to stand around elbow to elbow in a packed bar fighting to get drinks? Sounds awful.

Broke, lady person is away, and most of my friends are either working or under 21. This is the perfect storm of lame-ness.

We have a table booked at a place in River North and I'm not even motivated. Cold and NYE is always a gong show.

I took off this week with the intention of doing something tonight, but the closer NYE got, the less and less I wanted to do anything. Last time I did something on new years was 3 years ago and it was a total waste.

When you are old like me….just staying in with friends and nobody risking driving is the away to go. I long ago bored of the drunk tools at bars/parties, etc.

well I'm "only" 25 and the last time I had a real desire to do anything was when i was 22. Honestly, the only good part about new years is that its the easiest night of the year to get laid. Problem is, its just not worth it if you have to go out to a jam packed bar and put up with a massive crowd all night.

Yeah, I forgot that the train route I would need home stops doing direct to my place after X time... and waiting on that transfer can e 5 minutes or 30 minutes. Not in the mood to mess with that ********, and not paying $40 for a cab ride home to see Texas A&M play Duke, even if Manziel is playing. Will just watch that at home, and stream hockey on my computer most likely.

I'm engaged, so I don't need to go out and get rejected by random women for sex, and waste money on them. I can do that at home for much cheaper instead.

26 here, and I now that I try to think of it, I can't even remember the last time I did something that was actually fun, exciting, and noteworthy for NYE. We went and stayed at my buddies townhouse at ISU one year that was pretty fun, but since then, all I can remember are lame generic house parties.

yea, last time i went out on NYE went to a buddy's place in joliet, started drinking at 5, passed out at 8, woke up at 10:30, hooked up with a less than attractive lady, spent all of jan 1 throwing up from alcohol poisoning.

I can, and do, do that on Friday and Saturday 51 weeks a year. Don't need to use NYE as an excuse to do that.

The cops have been chalking tires at the bars around my house lately. Yeah, **** that, not even taking the chance of getting shaken down.

I don't drink and drive, so I wouldn't even worry about that

Also, CS, the closest bar to your house is dendrinos. You been drinking there? If so, an intervention may be in order.

We have a service out here called Safe Ride that we use. For $20 they pick you and your car up, and that covers 10 miles. They'll have someone drive you and your car home, and someone follows to pick them up when they drop you off wherever you're going. $2/mile if you go beyond the 10 mile mark. Impossible to get a pickup from them on NYE or during the Super Bowl.

Use that service way, way too often, but sure as hell not driving. If you get busted out here for a DUI, you are so ****ed trying to get around. I want to say the first time you get popped, it's an automatic 12 month drivers license suspension, with a very slim chance after 6 month you can get an exception to drive to work and ****.

The point is you can't even socially drink and drive home anymore. If you had 3 drinks and had your tires chalked, they are going to give you a breathalizer. I just don't drink outside the home, period. There is no such thing as taking a cab outside the city and no public trasnportation, so it's designed to **** people over. Not a big bar fan anyway.
