Johnson suspended for 2 games

http://video.nhl.com/videocenter/con...560334&lang=en

Here is video, Erik gets 2 games I don't agree with that. I think far worse situations in this season wasn't punished in that way. He didn't have history before. I think injury to Nielsen was major part of this suspension.

That is absurd... no way should that have been 2 games. A fine at the very most. Shanahan hates the Avs.

This game was Saturday. Today is Tuesday. Are the Avs and Islanders so unloved that nobody noticed this until now, or is it just because Nielsen's hand is broken?

kinda ridiculous, guys like Big Buff do this type of thing quite often and go un punished, should've been a hefty fine considering he isnt a dirty player and has no prior suspensions or fines. Compare this slash to some of the hits that have only gotten 2-3 games. Not even in the same ballpark of level of danger. Not to mention there were two or three way more dangerous hits in this game that I remember, why were none of those looked at. I thought it was about player saftey not injury retribution.

He had the hearing today. I don't know if it was the break that caused the media to put their head in their ass or what.

Bummer for EJ, he didn't intend to hurt anyone. I'm glad he didn't get 5 or anything ridiculous like that.

They announce the hearing yesterday and then they come to a decision this fast?

Probably the latter, it's a normal play in hockey just unfortunate luck for all parties involved that it caused an injury.

So we're suspending people for the result, not the act these days?

BS suspension. Players always do that but I guess shanahan still has a thing against the avs.

That's pretty weak. At most it should've been one game. There are more brutal hits that received less of a penalty.

This was also worth 2 games suspension. The guy who is checking to the board opponent on his butt, who decide hit after he saw opponent slips and is well-known goon gets the same amount of games as guy who of course made obvious slash but for sure didn't intent to injure him. That's why I think Erik suspension is a joke.

Unfortunately we've come to this.

If Nielsen isn't hurt, that's not even reviewed once.

I don't like these two-handed swings and I'm glad NHL is on a path on taking them out, but why start in the middle of a season where there have been worse slashes previously that have gone basically unpunished?

I'm just very flabbergasted by the timing of it all.

For those keeping score: crosscheck to the mouth on Stastny, not even a fine. Spear to the groin on Mitchell, not even a fine. #shannahan

What drives me crazy is that Gagner wasn't even fined for his 2-handed cross-check to Stastny face. This idiot Andrew Desjardins wasn't even fined for spearing to Mitchell's groin.

Yeah I agree on the suspension, but this is hardly something that is regularly punished. This whole "suspend based on injury" thing sadly seems to be an unspoken truth. I can think of quite a few plays against Duchene and MacKinnon that could have been suspensions, but they both got back up so the play is safe? Don't know about that.....

The Islanders probably nagged the league to look at it, then realized Nielsen got injured so they called a hearing an suspended him. I hope Roy and Sakic give them an earful for it and they better start complaining to the league like other teams do. The stastny slash to the face is be far worse than what EJ did.

Didn't Duchene get lumber jacked the other day against the devils?

Duchene gets either lumber jacked or cross checked almost every single game and nothing. I guess we'll have to get used to it with ****** Shanny in charge.

Dater agrees with the suspension.....
Not making anyone in the Avs organization any happier I'd presume

Oh Dater has acknowledged something is going on with the Avalanche! Whew, I guess he's still on the job.
