I think the point of the question is for you to give your sexual preference, if you choose to share that info. Much like any of the questions, there is no "real point" to them we're just giving a sketch of ourselves including any info that we decide to give. I'm wondering what's the point of wondering what's the point of that question, but I already see where that's gong to lead.

What is it about Teddy Roosevelt that a Libertarian voting person would find appealing?

True that, he was pretty interesting. Not the kind of politician that you see today.

I figure that deserves at least a response...
Perhaps it was the actually position of the question. If it had been down amongst the interests and favorites, I might well have taken it differently. The first group of questions seem to be more 'identifying' aspects. I don't normally "identify" myself as a heterosexual, though I'm definitely sexually attracted to women.

Isn't this a catch-22, since most of the people who spell favorite with a u probably agree with your political ideology?

Sexuality is definitely more than a mere interest like checkers or poker, nor is it a favorite thing like lasagna or fried chicken. A person's sexuality is part of their identity more than their favorite food isn't it?

Totally respect that answer, and in fact I was almost expecting it. The thing is though that if we didn't identify people or each other by 'sexual orientations' then perhaps there'd be less discrimination on the matter.

I 'like' brunettes, he 'likes' blondes, she 'likes' women, he 'likes' latin guys, you 'like' redheaded scottish women, etc, etc..... Sexual preferences rather than sexual "orientations".

Yeah and if we didn't identify which country we are from, there may be less jingoism. I don't see it as a reason to leave it off though. And the thing about this is that Tim just threw some questions together. Everyone is free to answer or not answer whatever they want. I know we have a few gay posters here, and I don't think they've ever gotten any flak (here) for it. But it's certainly not a requirement to answer, I think Tim was just thinking of questions people could answer, and everyone being lazy just copied his template.

Sexual preferences and sexual orientations are two completely different things, and can both be dealt with.

Political enemies: Rick Perry, GW Bush, Stephen Harper
Where you get your news: Yahoo, CNN, CBC News channel, these boards

Other hobbies/interests: Computers, math, science, learning, arguing about theism on the internet.
Favourite NHL team: Guess. I dare you.
Favourite bands/albums/songs: This list could be way longer, so I'll limit it to the fact that the Beatles, Barenaked Ladies, Arcade Fire, U2 and Matchbox Twenty are probably my top-5.
Favourite movies: Blues Brothers, How To Train Your Dragon, Independence Day
Favourite TV shows: Nothing on right now, really. Buffy, early Simpsons and Family Guy, Futurama and Eureka are probably my top-5.

Well anyway, Vyacheslav, I do respect the issue you had with my original comment on this. And in the end, I don't really think you and I have something to argue about here, and even if we did this thread wouldn't be the place for it.
Cheers!
