Yes, we have to monitor the pro-owners and make sure none of them are leaning towards UFA signings.

Pro-owners are not allowed to partake in these fantasies.

When that happens and it will happen and teams are filled with glorified AHLers to complete teams then the Fans lose ..

However these signings have the possibilty to bring in fans and money and increase league revenue and thus the cap goes up in the future ..

Lol. If so they're pretty smart. (But I wonder how that 4.5 million of lost cap space will look next season?)

I am with you .. I think that teams that control themselves this year in UFA spending will reap the rewards next off season ..

I think TO strategy should be that in fact lots of 1 year deals and see what happens ..

Precisely. Exceptions for a good UFA or two, if they are not too old.

I really think this was a good move by jfj. I have been saying it would be dumb to sign Joe and Gary for more then 1 - 1.5 each.. And I really didn't want to see them back this year especilly Joe. We need to move away from guys who are going to miss a mass amount of games each season. I would love to see a hand full of guys in Toronto other then Gary and Joe simply because Gary is not a top line player any more and Joe is to injury prone. Here is a list of players I would like to see come in.
A combo of any of these guys would be good. I really thing Toronto should grab ahold of Jason Allison.
Miroslav Satan. * A pure goal scorrer and could replace Mogs if hes lost to us*
Tony Amonte. * Energy player who can score though not the touch he once had.*
Teemu Selanne. * Speed... Is worth the risk of pairing him with sundin*
Darren McCarty * Tough guy who can also play a great defensive game*
Ray Whitney * A wiz with the puck in the offencive zone.*
Jason Allison * Worth the risk. I have a strong feeling he is going to be 100%*
Anson Carter * Come home for a bargan price Anson... Return of his old form*
Mike Rathjie * A solid defenseman something Toronto could use if got for 2.5 or so*
Pavol Demitra * Pavel is a great player but I think he will get to much in UFA*
Markus Naslund * Nasland and Forsberg will go somewhere with alot of cap space*
