One word sums up my reaction: UGH

I'd keep Jeff Heerema 9 out of 10 times over Pavel Brendl and thats pretty much what this came down to.

It appears we waived him before the waiver draft. I wonder what happened?

Very poor decision by Canes management. i have a bad feeling that they are going to regret keeping Brendl over Heerema (who I fell is going to turn into a 60-70pts player).

That really sucks. I go to a lot of Lock Monster games, and really thought Jeff was due for a breakout year. They better not screw up with Bayda too.

Look folks ... this is the second year in a row that Heerema came into camp with a REALLY good chance to make the big club and turned in a miserable performance. It's not like Canes management sat down and selected Brendl over Heerema ... Brendl actually had a pretty good showing in the pre season ... they pretty much picked themselves.

Jeff might turn into a pretty good NHLer one day, but he's going to have to figure out how to do it on something other than reputation.

Jeff

I guess losing him for nothing is what irks me. If they got a draft pick or something to that effect, then O.K. I see it.

To lose him for nothing is poor mgt in my opinion.

At least Jeff won't come back to play against Lowell, since NY picked him up they have to play him in the NHL or try put him through waivers again...would Carolina reclaim him?

I think they probably would ... unless the front office is so frustrated with his no-shows in camp that they've just written him off.

I'm honestly not trying to be an idiot here but Carolina can take him back in the waiver draft since he's been exposed by the Rags. There is some nice talent out there available with that first pick.

Good luck on Friday.

I wouldn't be shocked if they did pick him back up.

the thought has crossed our minds on the ranger board. most likely the rangers are hoping you take him back so that they can keep petro.

personally though i'd rather take a look at heerema.

Perhaps if the Canes take him back the Rangers will get something for hanging on to him for the waiver draft.

To me that would be the upside in taking Heerema in the waiver draft. MAYBE they could negotiate a little something from the Rangers to return him to New York. That way they wouldn't come out of this deal totally empty.

Plus ... if they couldn't work out a deal, then the Canes are likely to be forced to waive Heerema to return him to Lowell ... at which point the Rags could claim him again ... and at least you've screwed up the Rangers for a week or so by keeping Heerema out of practice.

It's an evil sort of pleasure ... but it'll do :0)

Three teams in three days. That's rough.
