Preds looking at Matt Moulson

http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog/Eklun...ulson-/1/56758

What do you guys think though

[MOD] This thread is about a reported rumor. It is NOT about the person who reported the rumor, his track record or what you think of him/what he reports. If you don't like Eklund then feel perfectly free to ignore any thread with the Eklund prefix.

If that is indeed the cost, I can't really see the Predators truly being interested, especially given that at the moment, it looks like NSH's first will be a top ten pick.

Not worth it for the Preds at all. He'll likely resign with Buffalo or elsewhere.

Seems odd, because they're 11th in the west and 9 points out of a playoff spot. Unless they think they can make the playoffs, I don't see a reason to make a trade.

Buffalo is going to make out like bandits in the Vanek trade if they do this right. Those fans should just sit and watch the team get drafted before their eyes.

Management needs more kudos, they are doing this right.

Now find a suitor for Miller and this team will be Chicago/Pittsburgh in 3-4 years.

Grig, Hodgson, Girg, Armia, Foligno, Ennis are solid offensive chips. Add a high end guy to this mix and sky's the limit for this team.

i mean it somewhat makes sense considering the Preds really need scoring forwards, but I'm sure there are contenders willing to pay a better price for him than the Preds

I agree that they are doing this right in terms of selling assets, but the last part isn't necessarily true at all. This next draft is a weaker draft, they may not get an NHL impact players by drafting middle of the pack and beyond, they'll need to get lucky.

Yep. Hopefully Reinhart this year...one of McDavid or Eichel next year ...plus hopefully another top 10 pick from Islanders after they defer their 1st from this year to us.

We won't be drafting middle of the pack this year... We'll have a top 2 pick (hopefully) Unless Miller ruins it for us.

I think the Preds should be getting a new coach and GM first. Whats the point of trading for a player with offensive upside when the team strategy specifically prohibits offensive play?

honestly I wouldn't mind having Moulson in a Preds jersey. it all depends on the asking price though

I hope not. Unless Buffalo is happy with Ryan Ellis, a 2nd and some other lesser assets, which I can't see happening.

It might make sense if Poile's job is on the line and he does give up our first this year.

Not sure how they made out like bandits if the Isles defer that pick to next year

So they're getting Moulson after they acquire Ovechkin?

I think he was referring to picks that you might get for Moulson and your other potential trade baits.

I like the Preds, and I like Moulson, but this doesn't seem like a great fit with the system currently in place.

The season is only halfway over, and Rinne is coming back soon.

With that said, if the price is this year's first or a first+ I'm not on board. Moulson would be awesome to have, but I don't think he does much more than help get the team to another mediocre finish. With this being the final year of his contract, paying too much for a rental is a bad idea unless it's the final piece to make a line up a contender.

Keep our picks, let come what may and draft for needs.

I hope Trotz won't expect Moulson to commit to team defense, because he sure ain't interested in doing so lol.

I don't get to see much of NYI, but if this is true then Moulson would see bottom six minutes. He would fail miserably here.

I would hope we only make this trade if we can discuss multi year deal in advance with MM

They'll make out like bandits regardless. Someone will pay a 1st + for Moulson come the deadline. Miller will get them another 1st.

You're aware that rarely happens right? Buffalo allowing Nashville to talk to him can only hurt Buffalo's return. He'll fetch a high return regardless. However if he says no to Nashville, then that drastically lowers his value. There's a reason why GMs typically don't allow this option.

2 1st Round Picks and a 2nd rounder for T.Vanek? .. That isn't a bad haul at all.

And I'd be more than happy if Isles defer pick to 2015. Much stronger draft.
