It doesn't make a ton of sense for Florida or Toronto to sign Palffy financially. While (like the Islanders) Toronto having no cap room is a myth, they still aren't exactly rolling in excess cash. If they go overpay for Palffy to play at the top, they will run out of money to pay for quality guys at the bottom. Same issue with Florida.

L.A. remains Ziggy's most likely destination.

Agreed, how Toronto is in the Palffy sweeps and in the lead for Aucoin with 10 million to spend and more then 2 holes to fill is beyond me.

We can afford it. We're just not allowed to.

I'm glad we make you laugh.

It's called...

Financial responsibility Leafs fans ,learn to live with it like the rest of us.Leafs fans remind me of the time when the Teacher told you 2times2 equals 4 and you argued with him/her for the longest time over it.

Do you know what financial responsibility is?

In lamens terms.. Don't over spend, so you lose money.

Leafs never lost money. Only franchises like Florida did. I'm not trying to start something here, but the Leafs are fine with the salary cap. Leafs make more money.

The fans, I can't speak for. I personally don't have a problem with it... It's a setback but if it meant that the league could survive then what choice do the Leafs have?

The Leafs were always financially responsible. That is part of the reason the team was so pathetic for so many years. they were a cash cow for the owners. 15 years ago they were among the cheapest. 5 years ago they were middle of the pack. Since then they gradually entered the top 5 in spenders. Now they have a cap and will pay the most money in the NHL to lesser markets in revenue sharing. My friend, the Leafs have always been financially responsible and they continue to be through revenue sharing.

IMO the Leafs can't afford Ziggy, but he'd be welcome if we could.
Cohen says Keenan has anywhere between $30-32 mil as the budget -- although Keenan has said he will try to keep it closer to 30 and allow for some wiggle-room during the year.

That being said, most local writers believe he could convince Cohen to stretch the budget -- they are close friends and Cohen trusts Keenan.

I think Palffy cares a lot more about making money than winning the cup. He'll go back to LA because they can offer the most.

I would love to see Palffy sign in Anaheim if he can play the left wing just as a big up yours to Kings fans.

If the Kings get Kariya, I really really like the Ducks getting Moen and Fedoruk.

That'd probably be the reason why many over on the Leafs board are trying to figure out how JFJ could be rumoured in talks with Aucoin and Palffy. To be blunt, almost every Leafs fan I know of supports a salary cap system, we'd prefer to see the league as a whole survive than have the Leafs go on a spending free for all.

To be completely honest I can;t see how you can make an allegation that Leaf fans don't understand financial responsibility when most in this thread have said that Palffy while nice, would be too big a blow to cap space to be worth it.

Now if you'll excuse me I need to go watch the ticker on TSN for when half the NHLPA moves camp and signs with Toronto.

I've read nothing but whining and bashing from you and not once have you made sense.

Even Montreal Fans(OUR ARCH-RIVALS) Have said this to you.
