Entirely possible but Wallace Gilberry has had a pretty nice career under similar circumstances as Ojomo.

Not saying I disagree just giving both sides.

Just to clarify when I posted I didn't even know they had signed Giacomini. Now that they have I feel a little bit better about it. I have no problem with letting Howard go for that money I was just worried there was no one there at all now

Job security isn't great in the NFL. If you get injured and cut the next season you only get whatever was guaranteed anyway so it's not like securing a 7 year deal is that great. Seeing how this is the case it's not the worst idea to be a mercenary in the NFL. For the fans it is but for the individual player it's smart in many ways. Pick your team every year whether for a chance to win or for a chance at the biggest check. Get to go and play with all sorts of different legendary players. Like Josh Freeman. lol. No but seriously if a team sucks for Revis he can switch whenever he wants. As long as he has those skills he can do whatever the hell he wants and it's enviable. In the end I don't have any connection to him in terms of rooting interest but he's an interesting player in terms of his career path and the very high level of control he's been exerting on his own career.

I wonder if Rex had never blown all that smoke about Revis and a new contract (without provocation) if things would have played out the same. Probably. The guy is definitely in it for himself.

From the Post:

[The Giants] had also agreed to a deal with O’Brien Schofield, a reserve with the Seahawks who the Giants viewed as an ascending player, before he failed his physical and the two-year, $8 million contract was retracted.

You don't even get all the guaranteed money in case of injury. You only get a percentage.

DRC is visiting with the Jets tonight. Hopefully we don't let him leave the building without a contract.

Visiting the Giants, now.

Waste of a visit with Cromartie, he turned down 26M guaranteed and 6/54 total from Denver.. Giants also just signed Walter Thurmond

It also should be noted that included in the $10 million, first-year money to Rodgers-Cromartie was a $5 million signing bonus that would have carried future salary cap ramifications and made it extremely difficult for the Broncos to release the cornerback after the first year.

So Rodgers-Cromartie would have made $16 million after two years. And then it would have been $24 million over three years.

That’s the deal Rodgers-Cromartie turned down. The other $30 million over the final three years was essentially fluff.
The contract DRC was offered by Denver wasn't close to being an actual 6/54. It's all in the structure. He wants more up front.

So far it looks like the Giants are definitely doing a good job in free agency.

DRC would be a huge add to the CB team. The Thurmond signing is *meh* in my opinion. We don't need another undersized corner. I don't even know where he would rank among our current CBs anyway. But DRC and Amukamara as your 1 & 2? That's not bad at all

No way they have enough cap space left for DRC at this point, but that's ok. Not a fan of handing out huge deals to corners anyway.

Signing Thurmond will not preclude the Giants from chasing Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, who is visiting the team Sunday. The Giants still want DRC "badly," according to Rapoport.

only way I could see us being able to afford him is if we happened to extend Rolle or something, or Kiwi takes a cut, something like that

I think Thurmond is far better for NYG than DRC. He's a legit slot CB. Those guys are hard to find. Personally I think it's the most important CB in today's NFL.

Demps is legit KR finally.

I'm not a fan of Reese at all but these last 2 moves were great.

I'm thinking more & more Reese is gonna take the best pass rusher at 12. Our pass rush is nothing but question marks.

Love the Ben Tate signing for the Browns. Now, if we can just get one of the CBs left, I will consider it a successful FA period.

Cle seems to hinge so much on QB. Curious what they do at #4

Thurmond is an AMAZING signing. I'd much prefer him on a short deal than DRC on a longer term deal. Love this signing so much. So amped.

Anthony Spencer visiting NYG today.

Only on the cheap IMO, upside but we have so many injury prone players already

Yup. Story of the last 15 years. Sigh.

More and more I'm starting to think they may go with Hoyer, draft the BPA at 4 and then look to take a developmental guy at 26 or in the 2nd. And honestly, unless Bortles falls to 4, I wouldn't have a problem with it if they went that route.

Pretty sure you guys go Watkins @ 4 and Carr @ 26.

And that would be a fantastic draft.
