I'd take a shot on him with the injuries we have at the moment. Put him on line with McGinn and Duchene and see if he can figure it out, if not we waive him as soon as Tanguay comes back.

Ick, no. He couldn't even cut it on the Devils. We don't need to be doing any Palushaj-type pickups, unless we get more injuries.

I dont think he fits in there at all.

I dont see no harm in claiming him to be honest. If he sucks, we waive him and someone else pick him up or he helps out our AHL-team. $600.000 on a contract that runs out this summer is perfect too.

When a first round pick with that much "potential" is being waived for a career 4th liner coming back into the lineup, I think that says something.

I think the last thing this team needs is another small scoring forward (and he'd be the smallest by far on this squad), except this scoring forward doesn't score. There's harm in claiming him.

I think both are a need eventually, or idealy a PF that has that sniping ability.

Ideally, O'Reilly will take less than Duchene. If it does end up being 6M/yr, that's fine. I want him back so I don't have a problem with that.

Hearing Rangers have asked about Barrie

Well we now know Barrie won't be traded.

Actually I could see a MDZ for Barrie + trade.

I wouldn't be a fan of the deal at all. The only upside I see is that it would even out the lefty vs righty equation for PM (ish)D.

Dater tweets that the Rangers are asking about Barrie and one of those twitter rumour-mongers are already throwing Barrie for MDZ out there. That was quick.

The Ranger fans can't wait to get rid of MDZ. It is odd to me how he can't put up numbers with AV, but did with Torts... most players it would be the opposite. Having a lefty that can QB a PP would be nice, I just don't think I want MDZ as that guy.

Unless Girardi can be re-signed. A lot of people are down on him and it's probably justified based on his play this season but I'd rather add more to Barrie and get Girardi than MDZ.

He's kinda slow and isn't a puck mover but Girardi would make us so much better. AV runs a different kind of system and Girardi doesn't fit there. Roy wants to run a more up-tempo offensive system but we have the likes of Hejda, Guenin, and Sarich playing big minutes for us. I think Girardi would fit in nicely.

Please no, I don't want to trade Barrie+ for MDZ, zero interest.

MDZ has been mishandled by the Rangers but I still don't want him.

The only good news is that MDZ's value won't be as high as it could be:

Michael Del Zotto’s representatives hope to chat with Glen Sather in Toronto on Saturday in an attempt to accelerate the Rangers’ general manager’ efforts to deal the 23-year-old defenseman.
Del Zotto, who will be a scratch here on Friday night for the second straight game and eighth time in the last 24 matches, has been on the open market for more than a month, but the Rangers have yet to field an offer that is even remotely to their liking.
Hopefully the Rangers get rushed into moving him.

Del Zotto has been quite bad for two years now. Slow and brain crampy.

I know he had a couple of seasons where he did put up points but Hunwick once had 27 points in 53 games for the Bruins and Quincey has sniffed 40 in the past. It happens that poor teams play the crap out of a player with decent offensive skill and they produce.

That said, he obviously is way better than Holden and probably is better than Benoit.

I like Girardi to be honest. He would make a good partner for Barrie. I just hate the idea of trading Barrie. I really have no idea why Roy hates the kid. He has been really the only weapon we have had on the PP. It's no coincidence that the PP started to click when he got major minutes on it.

At this point, I'd feel more comfortable moving our 1st than I would moving Barrie.

Question (Dwight voice): MDZ + Kristo for Barrie + solid, but not a top prospect

Girardi has stunk this year under AV too, so it's not like its just MDZ.

I have to say, MDZ has to be the most unfairly hated on player on this trade board. Wouldn't move Barrie for him? Barrie is far from a sure thing, and has had a lot of moments this year of questionable play, but people defend him like no other. MDZ is only a year older and proven a lot more, yet people act like he's crap. I see a lot of Rangers fans saying he's been mishandled by AV, been put on his wrong side where he doesn't play as well (sound like Avs fans to start the year with Barrie?), and been in the doghouse all year.

His value is probably low as it ever will be. Always the chance he comes cheap.

The Rangers weren't crappy, just solid playoff team. They were in the playoffs the last two years, where MDZ did fairly well in 11-12.

I think MDZ and Barrie are a wash right now when it comes to helping a team. Both can provide some offense but are pretty bad in their own zone. But I have more hope for Barrie than I have for MDZ that they can step up their game. Keep him.
