Always thought that ZK was a good locker room guy, but as was seen in the last few games, his role is easily replaceable in house.

Good luck in Buffalo!

Well, he's an upbeat rah-rah kind of guy, so why not? He's definitely going to bring some pride and passion into that locker room.

He's not a good defensive forward, though. He's good at face-offs, but that's about it.

I approve of this description.

Nope. Ellis is a better all-around hockey player, in my opinion. Konopka is a better face-off guy and fighter and motivational speaker. And he has his own wine business.

Konopka is not a good fighter. I think his arms are to short . His punches never reach the target.

I really don't think Komopka is a bad fighter, I think Kostopolous and Adams are bad, I think Konopka just isn't great. He fights a lot and knows how to tie guys up well, he just isn't a good thrower but definitely can trade punches.

I think Sparksrus3 is right, he might just have short arms or something.

Great pickup by Buffalo. The Sabres are headed in the right direction now!

He didn't even necessarily fight often for the Wild. Can't remember him winning even one fight now that I think about it.

He is actually an excellent fighter.

His nose is messed up because he uses it to win feckin faceoffs (mere 65% this season).

Unknown. It depends on whether any other team put in a waiver claim on him. If not then yes he can be traded.

If another team did make a claim then Buffalo cannot trade him this season without first offering him to the other team(s) that made a claim for "free"*.

* Technically it's not free as the team has to pay the waiver fee for the player. Which for a player like Konopo with 4 accumulated seasons would be $41,250.

Garbage fighter, not even worthy of scrapping Orr/McLaren. More of a matchup for Clarkson, but that's a stupid trade off for the Leafs.

Disagree with you there. Matt Ellis is a career AHLer. He's appreciated as a hard worker and a good teammate but face it, the skill, hockey sense, and skating ability are not there. He's a call-up option who spends most of his time in the minors, where he does quite well in a leadership role. I like him as a person and I appreciate his hard work but he doesn't have any talent at the NHL level. Hard work is pretty much the reason he is where he is right now. Skill had nothing to do with it.

Konopka's not a skill player at all but that's not his role either. As a fourth-liner, he plays his role pretty well. Elite at faceoffs and brings much needed grit, which at the very least should make games a bit more exciting to watch. I've heard he's the kind of player teammates really like in the room and we need to add life to ours. He's a welcome addition. Again, I'd much rather have him on our fourth line than Ellis. He brings much more to the table. Ellis doesn't excel at particularly anything.

Also, Konopka's from right around the area and played with Ellis years ago:

A native of nearby Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ont., Konopka played hockey at an early age with Sabres center Matt Ellis. Ellis was raised in Welland, Ont.
Matt Moulson was his teammate on Long Island and praised him as well. I'm excited to see what he can do tomorrow against the Devils. The Sabres are his seventh team.

Yeah he isn't really a good fighter... Prust got him pretty good earlier this year. At least he's good on faceoffs.

nah i dont think so, they'll send another kid and/or Ellis down to help Rochester. Scott on the roster doesnt hurt the tank, it helps it. Plus he's kind of clown and is good in the room, while still adding protection to the youngsters that are still around (and Miller) he, Ott, Konopka etc will help keep the mood light through this dreadful season.

Listen I love Scott and his role but Nolan seems to not want just a goon and the NHL would love him gone as we know Butthole and Shannypuss no longer allow tough hockey

Scott is not just a goon. He's on our PP now, and is one of the hottest scorers on the team right now! His one goal in the past four games is tied for the team lead!

They need to recall Kaleta and rename themselves the Broadstreet Bullies.

Would've been recalled a long time ago if not for that pesky season-ending injury.
