I know.

Never ceases to be ridiculous that a player whose team would slide from "fringe playoff team" to "lottery team" without him gets the edge over a player whose team would slide from "elite team" to "fringe playoff team" without him.
Ultimately it's basically the same absolute drop in the standings - one team just started off lower than the other.

Tavares hasn't been in the same stratosphere as Crosby this season, but that'll be forgotten if the Islanders manage to squeak into the playoffs in one of the worst divisions of all time. Doesn't make any sense.

Now, I know not everyone has played the same amount of games and that they have a couple games in hand against a few squads, but Detroit is 11th in the East. In the East! I really thought they would do well in the East and be one of the four best teams in the conference. Boy, I was wrong. I know that everyone has been waiting to see Detroit miss the playoffs and see their roster start to crumble, but is this the year they miss? I just can't see it even though they are 11th in the standings right now.

So if the playoffs started today, the Hawks would be playing Vancouver. Although St. Louis is only two points back with three games in hand.

There's still a long way to go, but another Hawks/Nucks playoff series would be pretty badass.

They have had tons of injuries to be fair, but it's amusing to go back to preseason predictions that had them almost unanimously in the playoffs and 2nd in the Atlantic.

They are retooling and in great shape going forward with young talent. At least that is what I read over and over......while they sit in 11th in the east.

Scary injury in the OHL last night. Read today that 55 stitches later it's all repaired, Stolarz is expected to be out 3-4 weeks.

Martin St. Louis doing his best to make Canada's decision not to take him to Sochi look all the more idiotic.

Though Sharks just tied it up. Not a goalie-stats friendly game.

I'm not one of those "higher scoring is always better" guys, but when a player scores a hat trick, and a player on the opposing team gets a hat trick, that's damn exciting.

Ducks rebounding well against our divisional nemesis. Midway through the second they are absolutely ****** the Blues. It's 3-0 and it could be much worse.

I love it.

Detroit just credited with a goal on a puck that hit the netting out of play 15 feet in the air and then hit Quick in the back and in. Apparently a puck out of play is not reviewable and somehow 4 officials missed it on the ice.

What a disgrace

Stalberg currently with lowest TOI among Pred forwards tonight

And Dubynk getting lit up in his Preds debut (5 goals so far on him)

This Ducks-Blues game is like a repeat of last night's game but with the Ducks as the Hawks and the Blues as the Ducks.

After hearing about the start of VAN/CGY contraction doesn't seem like the worst idea....

Maybe they'll get around to playing some hockey up there tonight.

Truth be told, when I saw that there were 142 minutes to start out the game, I was expecting it to be a lot worse.

100% obvious going in that the lines were out to fight, though. Hope both coaches get a fine, too.

Flames continue to demonstrate how big of a joke franchise they are and have been for years.

Some historical perspective: In 1999, MTL's Shayne Corson suspended 5 games for trying to get in VAN dressing room to get Ed Jovanovski.

Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie 12m

Corson got 1-game suspension for match penalty stick foul on Jovanovski, who reportedly made disparaging remarks about Corson family member.

Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie 11m

The remark by Jovanovski was why Corson was attempting to invade the Canucks' dressing room in VAN.

Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie 9m

Also in 1999 pre-season, WSH GM George McPhee suspended 1 month and fined $20,000 for punching CHI coach Lorne Molleken in off-ice incident.
