mine would be

Marleau Getzlaf Perry
Duchene
Benn

Keith Weber
Doughty Pietrangelo
Bowmeester Subban
Vlasic
Hamius

Luongo
Price

Maybe because Bergeron only played 3 minutes in total against the US with most of it spent on the pk

I just looked at team USA's roster and on paper they aren't contenders for a medal imo.

In years past their strength was in their d. I had them ranked #2 in the 96 world cup mainly because they had Chelios, Suter, etc, a defense that was on par with Team Canada at the time.

This USA defense has 5 players born in '89 or later and 2 of the guys born before that are Paul Martin and Brooks Orpik.

It would be a good defense on an nhl team but not at the national level imo. Their young guns aren't at that level yet.

Their forwards are at a much higher level than their d, they have several players who are elite at what they do... D Brown, R Kelser, P Kane, Z Parise, D Backes, P Kessel...

Outside of those 6 fwds I don't think anyone would have garnered serious attention for Canada's squad, and even those guys would be hard-pressed to make Team Canada in the positions they will play for USA.

Kesler wouldn't take Getzlaf/ Toew's spot, he would be in for Bergeron on the 4th line. Kane would be a winger here (Crosby, Getzlaf, Toews), Kessel will be a top 6 fwd there but not on team Canada.

They really need to be better coached and get some lucky breaks, standout goaltending and questionable refereeing to be in it against Canada.

I was at the game and it seemed like a lot more than that.

Cuz he was on at critical moments. He didn't play much I was at the game too.

And the moment you underestimate Team USA is the moment you get frustrated and lose. They are goign to be an extremely hard working team with excellent goaltending. Say what you want about their D but they can easily medal.

Anything can happen in 1 game but I don't think they have a leg up on Russia or Sweden and they are underdogs against team Canada.

I wouldn't be as surprised if they finished out of the medals as I would be if they made the finals.

I'm pretty sure Bergeron was fresh off those concussions of his. Wasn't near his full ability.

1: I would like to see Duchene playing.
2: I'd don't like your d pairings. It eliminates the natural chemistry those players have going.

I think you're pretty close, I would just swap Getslaf-Perry with Tavares-Carter

Stamkos-Getzlaf-Perry would be one heck of an offensive juggernaut that would be fun to see released

Duchene-Tavares-Carter would be a great energy line

St Louis over Duchene on the 2PP please. I think he is a better fit, moving in and out from down low while perry and getz control on the other side.

as a canadian sometimes its hard ot take a step back and look at the teams objectively but if price and luongo are solid there is no way this team shouldnt be playing in the gold medal game,

I think one of the other lines was Bergeron centering Marleau and Benn. Interesting.

There's a bunch of very strong teams but the biggest competition seems to be Russia
IMO their team is very scary in some aspects but just ok in others.

This should be awesome really looking forward to it!

i still feel like the finns are the sleeper team, they play that boring trap style defence and if they can hang on long enough have a chance to win a game or 2

Sure, you can never count out the Finns, but losing their top 2 centers in Koivu and Filppula is huge.

Yes.
I'm thinking/hoping our defense makes the difference it looks far superior to the Russian defense

I know this isn't a participation thing where you have to guarantee a player play some games and such, but I'd definitely try

Kunitz-Crosby-St. Louis
Sharp-Toews-Carter
Marleau-Getzlaf-Perry
Duchene-Tavares-Bergeron

Because I want to see Duchene on the big ice and St. Louis with Crosby. It doesn't matter at all, really, because that depth (Perry on the third? Tavares on your fourth?) is ludicrous, and we haven't even talked about defence (and goaltending, our supposed weakness)

To quote the pre-eminent DGB and Bloge Salming from their Olympic Rap 4 years ago,
Holy ****, we are stacked.

I like your roster but I'd switch Carter and St.Louis. St. Louis plays a game very similar to Patty Kane so he should be able to click with Toews and Sharp IMO. Carter is also on pace for 40 some goals or something, him being set up by Crosby would be ridiculous.
