on a side note : That USA vs Russia game was insane... TJ Oshie is such a beast in the shootout.
Ummm, Jurčina hasn't played for Slovakia since first game against US. Marinčin has been paired with Andrej Sekera since yesterday's game against Slovenia, still Sekera was almost as bad as Jurčina yesterday against Slovenia.

EDIT: Anyway, Slovak D has been eweird this tourney so far. Chára and Sekera have been pretty bad, while Baranka and Meszároš have outperformed them. Marinčin is something in the middle, nothing too bad, nothing too great. Good for his age at the Olympics, I think. Hopefully he should be on Slovakia's WC team in the spring and get an even bigger role there.

So much for that whole chemistry thing. Can't wait for real hockey to come back.
I haven't seen any of the games yet, but I'd like to see lines like this:

Tavares-Crosby-Carter
Sharp-Toews-St.Louis
Marleau-Getzlaf-Perry
Benn-Bergeron-Nash
Kunitz, Duchene extras

The fact that friggen Kunitz made the team over guys like Claude Giroux is a fricken joke.

How is a pick resting on top of the net above the cross bar? The water bottle makes the net sag to be parallel.

Also, the puck went into the net off of Rask.
Thereby nullifying the high stick.

Exactly what I thought. There's no way the puck would have been higher than the bar

It would all depend on the wording of the rule, so here it is:

d) No goal can be scored when the puck is high sticked into the net with a stick of the
attacking team where the point on the stick where the puck hit the stick is above the
height of the crossbar and the puck was propelled into the net.

That is right from the IIHF rule book.

Because the netting hangs down, we know that the puck was not above the bar. Had the wording said the stick must be below the bar, its no goal, but it says above. That is an awful call by the off-ice officials.

Homer vision in action in this thread, you'd all be losing your minds if that goal was allowed against Canada or the Oilers.
Just saying...

Except you're wrong. It would suck to have that goal scored against you, but unless we're missing another rule that prevents that from being a goal, it's a good goal

Nope. I expect that the officials know the rules. Would I be mad at that goal if it was against Canada or the Oilers, you bet. Then I would have done the same thing I did here. Look up the rule, realize it was a good goal, then hope they can rebound.

Homer or not, according to the rules, that is a good goal. What is the point of video review if they can't get it right?

I'm in awe of the Canadian defense. So calm and collected with puck.

It could be the best D ever assembled for a hockey tournament. Not even joking.

What is your logic?

If a player makes contact with the puck with a high stick and an opposing player touches it, the high stick is nullified, the the 'offending' player is allowed to play the puck.

In this case, the puck would not have otherwise ended up in the net, save for Rask's deflection.

The puck was not put into the net with a high stick, Rask put it into the net.

Jesus kunitz is just terrible. Easily the worst Canadian in every game so far. An absolute disgrace that he is on this team

An interesting point. Perhaps it could be argued a goal.

Of course.

Doesn't it seem lately that whenever younger people say "ever" what they really mean is only what they've seen? Just an odd observation but I see this all the time. Plus lol that people don't know what the Canadian flag used to be. What do they teach in school?

I'm 99.9999% sure it has to be played with the stick, not just hit the player. That said, it shouldn't have been called a high stick to begin with

I really need to get over my disagreement with the selections.

It's hard cheering for Canada when I'm looking for any screw up by the forwards to support my opinion that Hall should have made the team.

Tough period there. Felt like complete domination yet the game is tied going into the third. Hopefullly they can get some pucks in the net next period.
