It's like "arguing" with a wall. If people aren't able to understand, or follow the logic of: If we are just barely able to beat a bad team, how are we supposed to beat a very good team at all?

Then, there's nothing I can do.

No, beating a team like Latvia 2-1 does not translate to our ability to beating the USA(who has offense spilling out of it's ass) the same way.

But really, let's trade everything for that goaltender. What an absolute beast. This entire tournament, he's been Team Latvia.

Is it not the same guy who played against the Swiss? My bad, if not.

That guy was insane in that game as well.

So this is the only game you've seen I take it, far enough, it does look like Canada's only issue is a hot goalie, it's not, at all.

Canada gets it done, they will be CRUSHED by the US, they aren't ready for that game at all.

Did you not just hear Healy say the scoring chances were 24-4 when he quit counting Canada's scoring chances. What do you not understand about a goalie being able to keep an otherwise undeserving team in a game?

Well, at least we know who's supplying the kool-aid to Oilers' brass now.

That's a positive.

Oh you mean like how Canada struggled last olympics in the round robin, even losing to the US, but then dominating Russia and winning gold! Give me a break, I like how you call out guys like Kunitz, Carter and Marleau when every forward outside of the Perry line and Tavares have been no where to be seen.

Because it was the one defensive lapse that made the game close. We gave up a breakaway because we were pushing to hard to score and they tied the game. Then they turtled and kept it close, we dominated but there were scares because they always had 5 guys back and if there was a slip up they'd get an odd or even an even man chance against us.

Olympic ice forces defensive hockey. The teams that are winning are staying defensively minded until they get a two goal lead, then the team that is down has to open up to try and get back into the game. We're playing stupid hockey if we try and just overpower the opposition and keep giving up better chances against.

That's quite an excuse for this performance.

An NHL team can run into a hot goalie and lose, a Canada all-star team facing Latvia can also run into a hot goalie and might have some problem scoring, but not that much. That is my opinion of course.

The problem for non-Candian people like me with a team in the semis, I think, is that Canada will probably play better against a teams they know and play more like them, i.e. USA and SWE. After seeing Finland today though I think they have a good chance of making the finals and once there they will play their hearts out which actually would make it a 50-50 for me, even if CAN/USA plays their potential.

Does this also excuse our 3-1 win against Norway?

One more time, NORWAY?

A "win is a win" doesn't mean what it means in the NHL. We have to win a certain way, to at least prove that we're able to face much better teams.

I'll spell this out as simply as possible:

We barely beat Latvia, even with a hot goaltender. The offense wasn't there against Norway as well. Sure, we beat Austria 6-0, but, and let me repeat this, it was Austria.

If we continue to play the way we have, especially against teams like the US and Sweden who are scoring a lot, and not giving up anything, how does this scoring translate?

Sweden and the US > Austria, Norway and Latvia. They will be harder to beat.

So, if we put this all together:

We can't play at the same level, to BARELY beat Latvia and Norway towards the US or Sweden and expect a win.

Would you consider Finland a bad team as well?

Canada USA should be a great game! Our defense will hopefully be the deciding factor.

You're only making my point towards management being terrible. You understand that, right?

Also, the last Olympics?

You mean the Olympics where we beat:

Norway 8-0
Germany 8-2

and later

Russia 7-3?

A team that had offense? That team?
