Ya, just why I mention Eberle, because he did it two years in a row as well. Crosby, Henderson, Mario, all can't really be clutch, because they did it once. Any way, Amazing what she has done.

It's botched in many ways because:

a) there was no contact
b) if there was contact, it should have been tripping, not cross-checking
c) if there was tripping, it should have been a penalty shot, not a penalty

Just terribad.

Looked to me like the American player got her feet tangled with Wickenheiser's. That has to be a penalty shot every time.

Henderson scored the winner in the last three games in 72.

Brutal that the losing team has to stand out there to be presented with silver medals. I think I'd just leave the ice to be honest, this has gotta be the worst moment of their sporting lives for those American girls.

Just watched the replay. Knight definitely got a piece of her with her skate. While falling Knights front leg clips Wickenhieser's back skate and they both go down. Unintentional trip, but still a trip.

That is the way it is for all events in the Olympics. And basically every other international sporting event. Ever watch international football?

I was just listing guys that scored OT goals, or last-minute winners in the case of Henderson, in senior international best-on-best competitions. Henderson did get the game winner in 3 consecutive games in the Summit Series, and all three were do-or-die wins.

Oh puhlease, they got an Olympic silver medal. Most athletes go their entire lives without even sniffing a bronze.

Has a different feel to it in this setting though with the way the whole game played out, collapse and all. But yeah it's certainly not unique to hockey.

It is what it is, Kyle.

That said, I tend to agree with you because it not only puts the "losers" on the spot, but also takes some spotlight off ot the winners. But I think it only looks "bad" for team sports where there is are finals.

This is like saying Ryan Smyth should be happy the Oilers got to Game 7, since many players never get to the final at all. It was gold or bust for those American players, it's a crushing defeat no matter how you look at it.

And that slashing call on Lamoreux? LOL.
I didn't see anything wrong with the slashing call to be honest, Lamoreux was warned multiple times about slashing at the goalie and she did it again in OT and finally got called for it. US was on a PP so the refs probably didn't want the game to end that way either which ended up happening anyway a short while later.

It sucks that it ended on a PP but damn what a game! Local girl Szabados was great in net again, those saves at the start of OT were crazy.

Ouch, that's pretty crushing. But since that Gold medal game where the ref tried her best to hand USA the gold (American ref, Stacey Livingston, called 8 consecutive penalties against Canada in the 2002 Olympic gold medal game), I don't have much sympathy. The fix was obviously in on that game, yet Canada found a way to win it, anyway. Call it karma.

Why is it disappointing to win on the PP? Who the hell is going to remember anyways?
