Suspect decisions that stand out to me:

Carter- 23 points, enough said.
Bergeron - has not been good this year
Nash - same as Bergeron
Marleau
Kunitz - useless if he's not on Crosby's wing.

Mark Spector ‏@SportsnetSpec
Ken Hitchcock on selecting process: “Just remember: size, skating, compete. You’ve got to have that.”

Such a dumb comment. Nash has no compete this season. Why does he deserve making the team. Garbage.

So chemistry is enough to grease Kunitz on to the team, but isn't enough for St Louis to make it? If I'm Marty I'm asking for a Trade out of Tampa. If carrying a Stamkos-less team as far as he has isn't good enough to beat out some of the players his GM selected, he deserves to be on a team that appreciates him more.

Also, listening to John Shannon talk about this team is disgusting. Why is this nub employed? Idiot.

@SportsnetSpec: Hitchcock on Taylor Hall: "He and his whole line, Eberle and Nugent-Hopkins, will be Olympians down the road."

Was a little shocked to come across this. Surprising he would come out and say this directly and not say "they all have a chance". A little consolation for us I suppose.

Only one out of these that really bug me is Kunitz myself. I think Giroux, St. Louis, or even Thornton would've been a better pick.

Carter has 28 points and is a fast goal-scorer. For a team with a lot of potential play-makers, having a guy that's pretty much a lock for 30+ every year is nice.

Bergeron is arguably one of the top-3 2-way centers in the league and has insane compete level. Not sure how/why we'd leave him out (or who for).

Nash I can see arguments for either way. To me he's big, strong, good skater, lots of skill, and is proven in International tournaments.

Marleau is big, fast, and is nearly at a PPG.

found this quote that made me nod.

so now what to do with lines,

Kunitz Crosby Tavares
Nash Stamkos Bergeron
Sharp Towes Carter
Marleau Getzlaf Perry
Duchene
Benn

Keith Weber
Doughty Pietrangelo
Bowmeester Subban
Vlasic
Hamius

Luongo
Price
Smith

Carter adds nothing. This team will not be hard pressed to score goals. Players are the team that rank higher than him in goals scored. Sharp, Crosby, Kunitz, Tavares, Getzlaf, Perry, Marleau, Duchene, Toews, Benn, etc...

Bergeron, understandable he makes it, but with how bad he has been this year, he virtually is an extra with just the ability to take face-offs, similar to last Olympics. But I would have looked at someone like Thornton who is superior offensively, and yet still has a face-off %age higher than 55%.

St Louis, Giroux would have been preferred over Nash for me. If Nash isn't going, which can be a problem for him, as his work ethic/effort can be inconsistent he renders himself virtually useless.

Marleau I can definitely see him here, and I'm starting to warm up to this selection.

Bergeron/Carter/Nash are all having non-elite offensive seasons. I agree with the point of Thornton/Bergeron and Kunitz decision is just plain dumb. Hockey Canada is just overthinking things.

Kunitz has scored more points over the last two seasons than everyone save for maybe 5 players. I don't love the pick but I don't hate it. I dislike the Duchene and Marleau picks and absolutely hate the Nash pick.

I didn't think Hall had much of a chance but they pick both Marleau and Nash? Lol a little redundant IMO, one could also argue that Nash has been concussed at least twice since 2010 and hasn't looked the same.Meanwhile Hall has been lights out for a many games this season and have been outperforming Nash for almost 2 seasons now.

No matter what he says, St.Louis must be ******** by yzerman. Scoring champ last year, been carrying this team since stamkos went down. Also has best chem with stamkos who is on the team despite still recovering from injury.

Demand a trade Marty!

Can beregon play on big ice? Remember when Perron called him out for being a bad skater?

26 points in 33 games, including 15 goals. That's something like a 40+ goal pace. I'm way, way more amazed that Nash is the team.

And so was Jarri Kurri and so was Dave Semenko. If he produces in the Olympics at a similar level to the NHL beside Crosby then the team will be fine. A Kunitz - Crosby - Stamkos line could work really well.

I already know the chemistry he has with Crosby, but I still find Kunitz overrated at best. He's not an elite player in my eyes. Just a complimentary player that got to play with the likes of Getzlaf and Perry in Anaheim to Crosby in Pittsburgh.

Yeah, right! How many of those guys they selected have ever scored 8 points in a game? You need someone with the ability to have a dramatic outburst like that!!!

sure he has defensive liabilities, but if you hide and protect him on a line with 2-way players, his game-changing abilities would be great on big ice.

8pts in one game is absurd, the olympics is about fair play and fair competition. if the other teams cant use PED's then there is no fair play there.

Sam > Olympics

retroactive favoritism to pick your team = i hope they lose just because other countries have less to work with via hockey population disparity and canada still makes dumb decisions.
