For Steve Y to leave MSL off the roster, there had to be a valid reason. You know it pained him to do so.

Nah, I think Canada has a much, much better chance.

Finland will have to very, very heavily rely on their goaltending, which speaks to the quality (or lack thereof) of their team upfront.

There is only one thing I know for sure and it's that Steve Y is not a public speaker.

I wonder if lord of the rings tried to push for Hall.

This team honestly doesn't look intimidating like in years past. I think the approach has become so ultra conservative, that they don't even take player who would pose even the slightest amount of risk vs high reward so your getting these safe picks; i.e. veterans. The other thing about team Canada has always been about picking guys there familiar with that's why you see recurring pick's like Nash, Marleau, Carter, and not taking someone like St. louis because simply by default (none of his own; should have been on the last team) he doesn't make the team.

The one guy who I have no clue how he got on there was Kunitz, once i seen this team all i could think was is this selection process is about going with what works now, as opposed to what could be made better.

Also when Yzerman said that lines will change; no lines are set, it makes that selection even look like more cannon fodder - no offense to this player.

Am I reading into things too much when I think it's strange that Lowe didn't call Hall to tell him he didn't make the team?

Peter Chiarelli didn't call Lucic or Marchand either.

It's going to be an interesting tournament, I'm not very confident that this team will repeat though. I hope they prove me wrong

This would make sense if MSL didn't play with Stamkos. But he does.

You mean last Olympics when he played on a line with the Olympic MVP in Toews? No kidding.

Kevin Lowe was in charge of defense, I don't know how much say he had in the forward selections.

That was the best line for TC hands down. It takes more than 1 player to carry a line in an Olympic tournament. How can you guys not give Nash and Richards some credit? They were absolutely huge for us in the elimination games.

Toews is my favourite hockey player in the world and even I'm willing to give the other guys credit.

just like the world juniors the only way finland medals is by playing a sleep enducing trap defensive style and stellar goaltending

well hopefully in 2018, Team Canada will be big on chemistry again and put all RNH, Hall, and Eberle on the roster

Speaking of 2018, the Oilers could 'potentially' have quite a few Olympians then.

We still won't be in the playoffs so they won't be considered good enough for the Olympics.

Think of it like this. Carter shouldn't be on the team, yet if Stamkos can't play, he'll be our top line RW.
You said the Rw is very weak without Stamkos....still not seeing your point. The alternatives you listed are some of the best players in the world. Stanley cup champions, olympic champions, 40+ goal scorers.... don't see how that is weak?

The exposure that the NHL gets from the Olympics is huge. I think it would be a mistake not to go to Korea in 2018.

lol wat?

Finland has Goaltending.... that's as far as their "elite"ness is.

Canada beats them in both Forward skill and depth, as well as defensive skill and depth.
