Poor cap and asset management necessitating a rebuild. Giroux was younger, better, and cheaper.

Carter should be there. Guy scores goals and more importantly for big ice, he's really quick.

I think the strangest inclusion overall is Nash. The guy has not been good.

He must be incredibly devastated right now. I can't really sit here and say I'm happy because it helps Team USA's chances or the Flyers chances after the Olympics....damn I knew this was a possibility, but I didn't expect to be this saddened by it

Would you really be losing a goal scorer if he went instead of those guys?
I guess he's comparable to Nash in that department, even though both he and Carter are scoring at a better pace.

The reporters seemed to be more curious about St Louis not making it and actually asked who made the call to tell him he was omitted and what was his reaction.

ANyway, I guess they can always call him up if there is an injury.
These Olympics have totally jaded me on the competency of the people running the show.

It's all about gut feelings and "fit". The problem is you have no ****ing clue who "fits" where until you see guys on the ice together.

Exactly! Other teams will be running Crosby all game, hitting and slashing and punching and eye-gouging and ...

Come to think of it, Team Canada doesn't need Rinaldo.

MSL and Giroux are 3rd and 4th among Canadians in PPG this decade, over a span of 250 games, and are 1st and 3rd amongst Canadians in Points this decade.

They are also 1st and 4th in NHL points this decade and 4th and 5th in PPG.

Should both really be there.

Only Crosby and Stamkos have produced more amongst Canadians this decade!

With so many huge name snubs, if Canada doesn't medal, hoooooooo boy is Yzerman gonna catch some wrath.

Then again, if Canada doesn't medal, it'll probably be because of their goaltending which probably really wasn't his fault.

LOL that's fair.I'm surprised Seguin wasn't there either. He has rebounded really well this year.

I'll be really pissed if Giroux's snub is at all in part due to his no-show at the orientation camp this past summer. This guy has worn a Canadian sweater enough times to show his dedication to representing his country at international events.

It's becoming more and more clear that politics had a major role in these selections. The MSL snub is purely a self preservation job for Yzerman. Kuntiz is only on this team because of Crosby, and I wouldn't at all be surprised to hear that Crosby threw some weight around to get him there. Nash is here because he was pretty good four years ago and never misses a chance to play at the WC's. Based on this year, he shouldn't have been anywhere near this roster. Even is they wanted another big option on the wing, Thornton or Staal would have been much better choices.

The worst thing that could happen for Canada & Yzerman is that they get Bronze or nothing and guys like Kunitz/Carter/Nash are all invisible.

With that being said, the top end talent on D & F is so good that it'll overcome these fringe selections.

I'm sure Kunitz will score against the low level teams and everybody will puff up their chest, ya know, like Austria & Norway

These guys are also some of the best players in the world. They'll fit with just about anyone they play with. Can anyone honestly say Crosby wouldn't play well if he didn't have that awesome chemistry with Kunitz to rely on?

Well nobody can dispute his "party" style got him shipped out of Boston.....maybe Yzerman considered that very real part of his reputatation? Again..I think it is fair game to "speculate."

Despite being American, I think I want Canada to lose more than I want USA to win. This will definitely light a fire in him. My prediction: Giroux will finish the year with 95+ points.

Kunitz I can almost guarantee will be invisible. And when they take him off Crosby's line because their so called chemistry isn't working, I will be there waiting to LMFAO.
Travesty

No doubt there are some political "appointees" as I like to refer selections not necessarily based on merit and performance...

If you look at the roster, I think its Duchene who made it over Giroux. He's also a natural C who will be forced to move to wing.

Yup, and it will be fun to watch Duchene try and skate through entire teams like he always does. That should work against stacked defenses.

Watching Giroux play against TB on Saturday should be entertaining.

Whatever. This is the last chance for Canada before the age of Jones and Hanifin and before their goaltending totally goes to the crapper.
