A Request from a Sens fan

Back in 1999 I was down in Factoryville, PA doing avionics work for the day and we got done early. Instead of going back to upstate NY I decided to visit Philly. I got last minute tix to Leafs @ Flyers and watched Lindros get a hat trick. I threw my 1992 Ottawa Senators hat in respect. I was wondering if they still keep the hats in a glass case in the wall of the Wells Fargo Center (then it was the First Union Center) and if anyone going to a future game can take a look if they see an Ottawa Senators hat in there ?

Here's the game: http://articles.philly.com/1999-12-1...n-john-leclair

Quote:
A record 263 hats descended on the ice for Lindros' first hat trick of the season as the Flyers defeated Toronto, 4-2, to regain first place in the Eastern Conference with 39 points.
My hat, as I said, is from 1992 so it's just the plain black cap w/ a red brim and a cursive Ottawa Senators emblem. I'm guessing it's the only Ottawa Senators hat in any of those cases? It could very well be pressed between two other hats and unviewable. I could prolly drive down to Philly someday and get a look but I just remembered today that it should still exist and thought I'd ask. Thanks.

I can't answer your question, but I actually collect hats from the 90's and it sounds like you owned a Sports specialties script hat.

Did it look like this?

Haha, cool! I love 90's era hats. Next Flyers game I go to I'll be sure to check and see. I have a keen eye for vintage hats.

They do still have that glass case. I always stop by and and take a look at that one. Such a neat little exhibit.

The hats on display do not necessarily have any connection to the Hat Tricks they are celebrating -- although they by chance may -- If you look closely you will notice hats that were definitely manufactured AFTER the Hat Trick case it is in... the style or a date on the hat is a sure indication. The display is a sham... it is merely to represent selected Hat Tricks. I imagine the hats originated from the caps scooped up after being tossed on the ice... I would guess that not nearly all the hats thrown on the ice make it into a case... So any particular hat, such as the Sens cap, may never be spotted because they are nowhere to be found -- However they may in all reality be on horses from carriage rides in Old City for all we know.

... And, yes I do also enjoy telling kids that there is no Santa Clause.

Trivial note: Word has it that if you go down after a game and ask for the hat you threw on the ice back, they will bring you to a room in the bowels of the Arena where the hats were taken and allow you to find and retrieve your hat. This is good to know if a person ever wants to obtain a nice hat for free... and doesn't have any fear of cooties.
