I'm hoping this is a fair comparision, but who's better? Both are of the same age: 23.
Tanguay is a considered leech, but I say he's a quasi-leech. Last season, he held the league's longest point streak (13 I think). A few seasons ago, he posted 50 assists playing with Sakic (which isn't a bad number in any case at all). He also as great one-on-one moves. I've seen him do some pretty tricks here and there, but not often enough. Certainly has the upperhand on playoff experience and remember, had 2 goals, 1 assist in game 7 against the Devils. Knocks on him beside the leeching part is that he has confidence issues, doesn't shoot the puck enough (although that is changing somewhat).
Comrie, well ignoring the contract issues, is a first line center. He posted 16 pts. less than Tanguay in 13 fewer games. He's on the small side, but does have heart. Some concerns may be over his broken thumb. Will that affect his shooting and passing, who knows. I'd like to add more, but I haven't seen enough of him.
I like Comrie. I'm not sold on Tanguay until he does something outside of playing with Forsberg, Sakic, and Hejduk. I'm not calling him a leech, but I'm just curious to see what he can do on another team.
Tanguay is the better complementary player, but Comrie can be a franchise player someday. I can see Comrie wearing the C eventually, but Tanguay I do not.
I don't think either player can carry a team as this point in their careers. I mean, Comrie did play w/ some good players as well (Smyth & ? RW), but of course they aren't the caliber of Forsberg and Hejduk.

Same reason why I picked Comrie. I also favor Comrie's grittyness over Tanguay's soft game.
I voted Tanguay simply b/c he does hve the talent, and I have seen him use the talent. He has put up better numbers than Comrie, granted on a far more talented line. Still, I am sold on him. Everyojne calls him a leech for playing with Sakic and Forsberg. Where do you want him to play? These are the Avs top two centers and he is going to play on those lines b/c he is a top 6 forward. Many times last year I saw him create his own goals and scoring oppurtunites. He can shoot, he can deke, and he can pass exceptionally well. He was drafted in teh first round for a reason. Another reason why I chose him is b/c even though he takes longer to sign contracts, he does sign them. Comrie right now is holding out for money, while Tanguay signed for 1.5 million.....I think he could have signed for a considerably higher amount, but he did not. Call him a leech, call him terrible, but you cannot deny that he produces the points and he is only 23....He can be clutch in the playoffs..2 goals in the SCF....while so far Comrie has only had a bad playoff run. I love Comrie's game, but I also like Tanguays game. He was unstoppable the last half of the season and the year before that. He had a bad year in between, but so many playes have off years.....yet Tanguay is criticized for having an off-year at the age of 22 when he sandwiches those years with two 70 pt seasons
This is my opinion, call him a leech, call him whatever you want, but he will continue to score and that is all that matters.

Comrie was playing wiith Smyth and Carter the most, in the last 2 seasons, after carter got traded, Dvorak seem to be playing with Comrie sometimes,in 01-02 when Smyth was gone for 16 games, Comrie was the only player scoring the goals and keeping Edmonton in the playoff race, Carter did nothing to help edmonton at all during that time.
each time one of Sakic or Forsberg gets injured, to me Tanguay always steps up his game and I think it was just lucky for Tanguay that one of forsberg or sakic was paired up with him
