However, from a Rangers perspective, he might be the closest thing they have to it right now. They just simply can't afford to deal him with Richards bound to be amnestied at the end of the season and Brassard is far too inconsistent to be a #1 center.

Maybe for Patrick Kane.

Any smart GM would start with a high price. Evander Kane isn't worth that package at all though.

I mentioned this before but sweetened it a bit, how about Sutter, Maatta defensive prospect Brian Dumoulin and a 4th rounder.

The problem with this package is that no team that's looking to acquire Kane can afford to lose the two top 6 wingers that the Jets want. After all, why would they acquire Kane if they were set on the wings? It makes no sense.

Add in a top prospect and a 1st round pick, and whatever team deals for him is going to wind up with multiple holes in their roster. Is that worth it for Kane? Not really.

No deal will be done by any team if this is what Cheveldayoff really wants.

Why?

The team isn't looking to sell, so why lower the price.

is there any interest from Winnipeg in the center depth on the Flyers B.Schenn ++ perhaps? If memory serves correctly you guys are still looking for that young, legit 2C?

They would probably also ask for BB.

Apparently there's some heavy rumors that Vancouver is on the verge of getting him. Rumor on twitter is Hansen, Tanev, Gaunce and a pick.

Probably heavy ******** but it's getting a little traction on the Vancouver board and the rumor seems to be coming from a Canuck insider.

Hopefully RS jumps in on this and makes a bid for Kane also.

What is up with Nucks & Habs fans making these terrible Kane proposals every single day. You're not going to get one of our top players (22 years old, signed long term) without giving up a significant roster player (25 or under), a very high 1st round pick, or the best prospect in your system. This unproven quantity for quality crap is not going to fly.

Let me throw some **** around and see if it gets any positive responses.

Coyle, Brodziak, Dumba & 1st. Any of those pieces can also be switched to Niklas Bäckström.

I'm not a Dumba fan but I appreciate that this was an honest attempt, rather than the cap dump + pending UFA + lesser prospect + 2nd attempts we've seen. You'll notice few Jets fans bother to post in these threads anymore because they're almost daily and full of nonsense.

I'd do this trade if I'm the Jets. Dumba and Coyle are both gonna be solid NHLers and that 1st is mid round. Brodziak is a decent 3rd liner for them too. Not exactly Top 6 player but still solid.

No doubt more than any team should give up for Evander Kane imo.

I love Evander Kane, but no team is going to pay the price that TFP reported. It's just too much. It will gut a team for a 30 goal guy, which isn't rare enough for that type of return. If I trade all of those pieces, I want franchise defender coming back. Wingers are not as valuable as centers. I think he could get a top 9 younger player, top prospect, and top pick from a serious team. It just all depends on what GM Chevy is looking to do up there, but it seems like that team might need a shake up. Kane's name is always popping up in rumors too, so there is some smoke behind management thinking about moving him.

Him and Ryan have just about the same value. So a deal like that.

Yikes...that's way too much for Kane from the Wild. If Zucker would replace Coyle in that deal I might consider it but not if Coyle stays in. If a deal of Zucker, Brodziak, Dumba and 1st gets it done, great but not moving Coyle.

The thing to keep in mind is that other teams have been constantly enquiring about Kane but there has never been any indication Chevy has any interest in moving Kane. Hence the ridiculous asking price.

I agree there is a good chance of a shakeup trade fairly soon but Kane isn't the guy out the door in a shakeup. There are a number of guys in the Jets locker room far too comfortable with losing. Kane, though, hates losing more than anyone else on the Jets and to be honest that is the source of any friction between he and the organization.

Probably ******** sources that make stuff up for dummies to follow.

If the Jets feel they can compete, then the ridiculous asking price is correct as it would be ridiculous to trade him for less.

Once the price came down a little, I'd be comfortable offering:

Gallagher
Beaulieu ( viewed as the top prospect still)
1st
2nd round pick the following year, becomes a 1st if the habs reach the conference finals, or whatever the ****ing equivalent is now.

It's not cheap to get good players, but makes no sense to trade away your team to get one.
