Dan Russell says that as a result, Niedermayer probably won't be signed by Vancouver... But his agent will be on the show later.

Honestly, good.

I would hate to see Naslund go somewhere else.

I really like Naslund. One of my fav players. The Canucks wouldn't be the same without him. I would have a hard time seeing them competing as hard as they have in the past if they lost him.

Good work, Nonis. You did your job.

Go Naslund!

Boo Canucks!

Big Bad Bert to the second line with the Sedins and Forsberg playin the left side? Odds? Or did Forsberg decide to go back to Modo like his dad has been rambling about for a few years now.

I'm just glad to see Naslund stay in Canada...with the new economics of the NHL, Canadian teams (other then the Leafs) will have an actual shot at winning and I like that idea..and yes I am a Leafs fan

Doesn't that really depend on the contract that Naslund signed?

Great news if true! I never much liked the ideas of what the Canucks' line-up would look like without Nazzy, he's too important to the Canucks' success and chemistry to think that a player such as Kariya could replace him in any way. Now hopefully Nonis can sign a tough, gritty defenseman to replace Malik as the 6th guy and maybe a 2nd line scorer for the Twins.

So much for "Naslund and Forsberg would sign with one team" rumor. It was WAY OVERBLOWN and I never really believed that it would end up that way. Especially after Naslund said "of course I woul like to play with Forsberg. Who wouldn't?"

Who says they both can't sign in Vancouver? I'm not going to hold my breath, but there's nothing stopping Forsberg from signing with the Canucks.

What cheaper option did Nonis have for the face, and the captain of his team?

CKNW is the local station that broadcasts all Canucks games, and has a very tight relationship with the Canucks management. They are also very conservative, and not given to making statements without checking their sources.
I believe you can take this story to the bank.
Naslund is back. Official announcement Wednesday.

I'm not saying that all these people are lieing about it, because theres been a ton of people on canucks.com who have confirmed that Russell said it on sportstalk, but if this is the case, why the hell is russell talking golf and then football now?

It is also being confirmed on other forums.

Basically, we can state that CKNW has said Naslund has re-signed.

Now we just need to wait for the official confirmation. It took Sportsnet, TSN, etc about three hours to catch up with Calgary radio on Amonte, so just give it time.

The reason Dan is likely tlakign about other sports is because the show is called "sportstalk" not "hockeytalk".

I started listening to the CKNW feed and the are announcing the signing. The website doesn't have anything but the radi station does!!

The pieces are starting to fall into place. Lets forget Niedermayer as we could sign two great players for his price. If Forsberg takes a discount then maybe him but why would he screw the Colorado fans and his teamates to sign with one of Colorado's rivals.

Realistically, if the Canucks sign their restricted Free agents, they won't have much left for a big splash.

Awesome news.

This is how it should be, I couldn't envision Markus Naslund in a different jersey.

Congrats 'Nuck fans.
