Yeah, the show was on MLB Network the other night (I am sure they will probably replay it). They discussed the Top 50 and the two panelists seemed very high on JBJ and Owens, and of course Xander.

They can cut ties with any or all of them next winter and mortgage the farm for Stanton, leaving a scary good OF of Gardner-Ellsbury-Stanton.

I still think he's meant to be a Red Sock. Our OF is going to need a third man, and our lineup is going to need a cornerstone power bat. The fit is almost too perfect. Deal some of our prospects and put him in LF with the Monster, he'd be the next generation's Manny (though not nearly as elite or as crazy).
I don't think having room for Stanton is the problem in that scenario. The Yankees just don't have the pieces to make it happen.

Gordon Edes reports that Lester will take a hometown discount to stay in Boston.

Quote:
"These guys are my No. 1 priority," Lester said. "I want to be here 'til they rip this jersey off my back."

Just as was the case with second baseman Dustin Pedroia, Lester said his desire to stay with the only team he has known since being drafted almost a dozen years ago trumps his need to claim every last dollar.

have to wonder whether 2012 was the anomaly in lester's career. he's pretty similar across the board, i have to admit. 200 innings of an era mid-to-high 3's under 4 is worth that contract in today's market.

Lets hope that's the case. 4 yrs, $80 million sounds good to me but I think Lester will likely want a longer term.

Tragic news everyone

NESN has reassigned Jenny Dell to Sportsdesk and is hiring a new sideline reporter because she's banging Will Middlebrooks and apparently now it's a "conflict of interest" even though Heidi kept her job for years after having affairs with Varitek and Nick Green.

We'd watch the game either way. Except now in the awkward breaks in between mound conferences you're going to have to stare at Dan Roche reading the twitter poll about best sports movies.

The Jenny Dell situation is ridiculous. People are professionals. We should allow them to have personals relationships. Conflict of interest? Such bs. Both are professionals. Treat them as such. And not as lepers. Ridiculous.

At least they didn't fire her

I mean it's not like her and Will are going to get it on during games...

Although, I would probably pay to see that

This is such hypocrisy on the part of the Sox. They hire faces and boobs and then when those people draw attention from young men they see every day they get punished. That's a joke.

Nobody cares about the "integrity" of her sideline reporting. That's comical. Judge her based upon the quality of her puff pieces and trivial interviews, not her personal life.

Maybe nesn gave her some kind of signing bonus in 2012 , they're threatening to claw back

It's no more a conflict of interest in a reporter from the Globe doing a story on a Red Sox player since Henry owns both. It's no different than what she was doing before, since NESN is owned by the team and she was reporting on the team.

I wasn't a fan of hers, but to suddenly pretend she's no longer objective is absurd. She was never objective to start with, FFS...

She probably signed a contract. Those are binding in America.

Sure but she's been moved out of the position she signed the contract to fill.

You know that how?

Might just say she has to be on TV in some role, not solely the sideline reporter.

I don't think a team's network's sideline reporter needs to appear objective, but I'd imagine the only rule is don't date a player. I don't have much sympathy for her. And they aren't even firing her.

I'm friends with a former patriots cheerleader, and it's strictly prohibited they date players. Firable offense. So it is possible to lose your job over your personal life.

I guess she should have lied about it instead of being open and honest about it.

We love liars instead apparently.
