have to agree. I only hope we get to see them duke it out in the playoffs.

Dallas v. Colorado used to be a big one as well.

maybe we will see buffalo vs. st. louis again this year as well

Rangers/Islanders - Even when both teams were awful (98-01) the rivalry was huge. It's ridiculous how crazy either the Coliseum or Garden are during those games. The players feed off it and the games are usually pretty intense.

As a Habs fan I still get stoked whenever they play the Bruins. The playoff run 2 years ago renewed the rivalry for me. For whatever reason the Toronto angle doesn't stir up as much excitement. I think the Leafs have a bigger rivalry with the Senators to be honest.

After watching last years playoff series, I would like to see the Sens and the Flyers go at it again.

My personal favorite, by far, has to be the Wings and the Avs. Just AWESOME games.

Some others....
Detroit v. Dallas
Detroit v. St. Louis
NJ v. Philly
NYR v. Philly

Based on Playoffs:

Leafs and Sens (Seemed like they met every year except for last)

Edmonton vs. Dallas (See above)

Just plain NASTY:

AVES and Wings (has lost a little when Claude left town)

The BEST rivalry EVER was between the Canadiens and Nordiques. This Habs fan I talked to told me there was someone in Montreal with a Nordiques jersey on and some hooligans in the crowd ripped it right off! And don't forget April 20th, 1984. N A S T Y. I'm not old enough to remember the Battle of Alberta when it really mattered, but from what I've heard the Habs/Nords rivalry was the best.

Isles/Rangers by far. Who could ever forget Mariusz Czerkawski hogtieing Ranger's Dale Purinton to the ice and letting Alexei Yashin get free shots at him! Yash managed to break his nose during that. Also the infamous Theo Fluery/Eric Cairns chicken dance incident. Plenty of unforgettable memories. Also from personal experience, since it was my first playoff series that I've ever been to, I'd have to give an honorable mention to the Isles/Leafs rivalry that stemmed out of the 2002 Playoffs. That was bad blood until the bitter end. When Darcy Tucker took out Michael Peca, Isles fans wanted his head on a stake.

Old rivalries, Boston/Montreal has been pretty steady, despite recent falloffs of either (or both!) teams.

Lately Detroit/Colorado is always good, though if memory serves game one or two between them last season was a real snore. I suppose that happens, or maybe ABC can make any game look boring!

These days the midwest teams have something going, Detroit-Chicago games were among the best all last regular season in my opinion. Especially that last one!

And of course the greater New York area as well.

Why hasn't anything sparked in Cali yet? I've been waiting...

As a Habs fan, I feel the greatest rivalry in the NHL at the moment must be the Habs vs. Bruins! Always close, energic games. Needless to say I can't even express at what point I hate Joe 'bar fighter' Thornton.

I really like Rolston, though! :p

The Edmonton vs. Dallas is a good rivarly, too... especially in playoff time.
