I remembered detroit fans saying they were worse then us a few weeks back I just assumed they got better, they were always one of the better shootout teams, they would use datsyuk and tuzzi and i remember at times were unbeatable at it especially in 2012 I recall them being very hard to beat when it came to shootout.

So basically NJD, and Red wings, and preds are worse then us.

I wont count canes and bruins since they simply have had not many shootouts.

After 0/3 tonight vs TML, NJD shooters now 1/20 in shootouts this season

Bruins aren't really built for shootouts though, a bit like us with lots of 2-way players and not a lot of flash and dazzle.

Leafs still stuck at 2 regulation wins in their last 26 games, that's rather incredible.

Hope the leafs miss the playoffs the next 5 years. The arrogance of their fan base is nauseating.

And no basis for their arrogance.

Despite the Young Guns...

BrianWilde ‏@BWildeCTV
The longest drought of having a 40 goal scorer is the Oilers dating back to 1992 Petr Klima. The Habs tied for 2nd 1994 Vincent Damphousse.

I wonder if the NHL will ever drop the shootout. I feel that surely the shininess has worn off by now, but I suspect the casual fans (who make up probably 60% of attendance,) still enjoy it.

Sadly I doubt it, the league will continue to cater to people who don't have the ability to appreciating a tie.

The shootout wouldn't be so bad if they moved to a 3 point game. 3 for a regulation win, 2 for an OT / shootout win, 1 for an OT / shootout loss.

Or better yet, give 3 points for an OT win and 0 for an OT loss and make OT twice as long with the 2nd half played 3v3.

I want it to get old but watching the Oilers lose just doesn't. Likely because I grew up a canuck fan in Alberta during the 80's.

on 3 points for reg win...I agree. It is what the NHL failed to do when they brought in a gimmick. For fun I went through the standings and determined what they would look like right now. The West remains unchanged in order but the East changes quite a bit:
- The Caps move from second in the division to being 2 points out of the wildcard
- Rangers take over second in division from third
- Flyers take third in the division. Flyers currently have the first wildcard.
-Wings have first wildcard (compared to current second wildcard)
-Devils get second wildcard (right now they are behind two other non-wildcard teams)
-Leafs move from just out of the wildcard to 4th last in the conference

Don't forget they could be looking at a top 10 pick in the draft this year too

Vancouver and Los Angeles would switch positions in the West.

I did it quickly but I still had the canucks behind by 1 point either way not major changes to the west from what I saw.

Big possibility I didn't do it properly as, like I said, I did it quickly.

Take out shootout wins, and LA would have 53 points to the Canucks' 55.

Easiest way to eyeball it is to look at ROW.

Guys. GUYS. Tim Leiweke is dropping some incredible quotes on Hockey Central. Follow along at https://twitter.com/SNHockeyCentral

Lieweke: Leafs have bad track record of knee-jerk, band-aid solutions. "We won't do that anymore." (That's why they traded for a goalie after blowing a 4-1 lead vs Boston)

Lieweke on Leafs: "The issue is not the coach. This issue is, October was not a fluke." Must get back to playing that way. (Hooooo boy)

Tim Lieweke asked @Drake, who played a key role in luring Defoe to TFC, if he knew any good NHL centres. (That's some excellent pro scouting they've got there).

Lieweke: "Cast no doubt on where I lay my loyalty, and that's to Dave (Nonis)." #TMLtalk

JESUS. That franchise is well and truly ****ed.

Which is a beautiful thing. I hate (a strong, but applicable, word) that greedfest money sponge monopoly with a fervent burning passion, and their rudderless ship is a splendor to my eyes.

Up with the Hawks and Blues as one of the best organizations in hockey right now.

The Ducks are so good they can afford to piss away a player like Peter Holland. Can you imagine if the Canucks had Holland right now? We'd all be anointing him the 2nd coming of christ.
